We stopped in Clifton, TX. to get gas. One of the locals said Bunkhouse BBQ was under new ownership and back into the original family. Let me tell you this is some damn good BBQ. We had the sausage, brisket (lean), turkey, and ribs. Sausage was great, brisket was nice and tender with good smoke and flavor (no sauce needed), turkey breast had nice and smoky taste and very juicy, ribs were on point (nice tasting glaze). Also tried the sauces all of which were good and can go with several meats. Okra was great, Mac n cheese was good. Make a short trip and try this place out. Great atmosphere and Service, owner knows his Q.

1/2/2025... Driving through town headed to Lubbock stop by the Bunkhouse BBQ the food was fabulous The brisket was so tender it was falling apart in your hand You couldn't even pick it up to eat it You had to eat it with a spoon the pulled pork was soft and tender, sausage was awesome and all the sides were great! recommend stopping here to have your food hot and ready. We'll stop again.
Update Dec 2024 : it was not the same food i remember. The baked potatoes were so overcooked we couldn't eat them. Asked for extra sour cream and got home to extra butter. The mac+cheese was just horribly made kraft mac+cheese. Potato salad was ok. And the ham was ok but nowhere near as good as it used to be. And spent 4x as much as i did a few yrs ago. Now I'm disappointed.
Before Dec 2024...Been getting their brisket and ham since they opened up in Clifton. Never dissapointed.

Great food, and definitely get your moneys worth! Bbq sauce was different from all others I’ve had but was very good.
Parking: Large gravel parking lot with room for trucks and trailers
Went there last night. The staff were so unfriendly and acted like we were bothering them. The pulled pork was great but the brisket was not good at all. Been going here for a long time and never experienced this before. Tell your staff that they should welcome customers with a smile not a scowl

Got it to go. Food is great. But very very disappointed in portions of the meat. Got a two meat plate but the amount was the size of a one meat plate. I make it a point of stopping there whenever I'm in the area. I'll still give it another chance to see what happens

The macaroni is kraft, potato salad tastes like it's from the local grocery deli. 3 stars because my BF liked his brisket sandwich and I happen to enjoy kraft mac lol, but I wanted something homemade.
Stopped in based on the many good reviews, and they were spot-on. The price for a brisket plate was cheap by 2024 standards. The brisket was perfectly cooked and quite delicious. We mixed two BBQ sauce flavors together and liked it better than any of the three sauces by themselves. I love fried okra and was pleasantly surprised at how much I got. The pinto beans were very good and tasted like pinto beans; they weren't over-seasoned as many places do. Friendly employees completed the home run. We'll be back!
I recently dined at Bunkhouse bbq and it was a great experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were very welcoming, making our visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming and perfect for an evening out with friends or family. I highly recommend this restaurent to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

I thought I would give Bunkhouse a shot. I'm a tough critic when it comes to bbq because I do competition bbq and I teach bbq. Let me tell you folks this spot impressed me! I got a little bit of everything to go and it was all good, I couldn't find anything wrong with it (believe me; I tried). You will not be disappointed.
The meat is still great. Probably the best pulled pork sandwich within an hours drive. Selling Kraft Mac and cheese for $8 a pint is pretty embarrassing though. If you’re going to phone it in that hard just don’t offer it as a side…
