Terrible decline of one of Austin’s favorites. Food was meh, service was as well. Just seemed like someone took the life (and flavor) out. I could tell things were not prepped as fresh and the bland flavor just make this another chain. Sadly will never go back
The absolute best most mushroom spinach enchiladas I’ve ever put in my mouth
Living in Austin for my whole life, I tend to forget some staples like ZTejas. I am Celiac and had called ahead. I felt pretty confident with the host's answer regarding dietary protocols. Leaving the gym, my dude and I decided to stop in for an early Saturday dinner. Our server Michael is hands down the BEST server in the entire Austin area and beyond. We eat out at restaurants 3-4 times a week and are blown away by Michael's level of service. He is very entertaining, a perfect host who ultimately cares about the diner's experience and knows what is tasty. Plus he knows a Celiac conversation and already speaks to it, leaving me with a huge sigh of relief. He recommended the mushroom and spinach enchiladas and while that would have never been on my radar, I took him up on his suggestion. That is how fast I trusted this guy. The enchiladas were so so goooood! And they were light enough and filling. My favorite part is how Michael made a seemingly low key quick dinner into something very special, despite us still being in gym clothes. Michael is a hoot, a real entertainer, and part of an excellent dining experience. I will be back asap!

Went for Saturday lunch and had the excellent Brunch Relleno and very good beef Street Tacos. The black bean and rice sides were very good also. The complimentary cornbread was a pleasant surprise. We ate on the back patio was was comfortable and quiet. Good service!Recommended!
We waited too long to see our waiter. The rest of the service was pretty good. We had to send back one meal because it was not warm enough. The other was just warm enough. If served hot the meals would have been great. Entries, flavors, etc. were really good. Just need to be warmer.
We were very disappointed that the kitchen was not allergy friendly! We wanted to order a vegetarian bowl WITHOUT onion! Our server informed us that this was not possible! Essentially we were ordering a bowl minus one ingredient! How could this not be possible? Her response was,” the bowls are pre made”! Very disappointing! Our server Randy was very passive aggressive! She did not “Aim to please”.
A neighborhood gem. Not being from the area we didn't know what to expect but we had a great experience. A wide variety and interesting food choices; and what we settled on was excellent...with the right amount of spice. Service was outstanding. Great margaritas! You should try it!
Excellent service by Scottie! Thank you so much for an enjoyable evening with our colleagues visiting from Norway. The chile relleno was wonderful and our guests really enjoyed their enchiladas. And yes, the margaritas are wonderful.

Ole favorite that doesn't disappointment. When you want some good food and good drinks this is a classic standby. Love that they can accommodate a big group. Fun for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Had brunch at Z'Tejas today. Haven't been to Austin in awhile and this has always been a great casual restaurant. Had the Bloody Mary build your own bar which has some really good selections to choose from. Two of us ordered the chicken and waffles, which were very good. Could have been a bit spicier for my taste. Another person in our group had the panko crusted chicken salad and she said is was delicious. The other person had the special burrito and also thought it was great. All in all, consistent quality, great menu, and great service.
We had a great time on a quick trip to Austin for a visit with our daughter. It was a perfect spot for us to visit and chat and the food was absolutely delicious! Our waitress, Blue, was very helpful and proficient.
The unfortunate part of our good experience was my wife and I ordered the prime rib breakfast special. They were both delivered to us well done to burnt thus almost destroying the dish. The waiter advised us that is how the kitchen is preparing the dish for all... It was a little bit of a let-down.
What a great place to explore a variety of interesting menu items. The famous cornbread lived up to its reputation, and our entree's were delicious! It was the perfect place for a quiet date night dinner before heading out to enjoy Austin's entertainment scene.
