We visited Whistle Stop Cafe for the first time on Sunday. 8/24/25. I’ve heard of it but never found myself in the immediate area. It wasn’t super busy at the time we visited. We had a couple of orders of chicken strips and gravy with fries and a Patty Melt with fries. We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer. Food is awesome. Great downhome meals, good daily specials. Fried catfish is is a must try. All you can eat on Friday. Staff is friendly, service is quick and correct. The salad is large, I ate it over 2 days.

Service was fantastic. I got the chicken fried steak, and it was ok, not bad, but I've definitely had better. For my sides, I got a side salad with ranch, which was actually a 10/10, and French fries, which again were ok.

For my taste, the atmosphere was kinda dim and a little drab, more like a bar setting (which there is a bar, so it makes sense). My preference would be more light and lively. Open the windows and let some natural light in. But again, we...
