Just took the family out to dinner here and may I just say this was just the most pleasant experience!
It’s a tiny place not easy to find but my goodness you definitely need to!
The people were so lovely, the food portions will make you wish someone would just carry you home because the flavor is so darn good you can’t help but clean your plate!!!

Took the family out to TJ McChicken in Crockett, a little hole-in-the-wall family owned restaurant. Goot Lawd! The food is AMAZING! I had the catfish with hushpuppies and fried okra. Folks, ordinarily I'm not a fan of catfish, but everyonce in a while I'll order it from somewhere just to remind myself that I hate it, but THIS place made me a true believer. I was full about ten minutes before I stopped eating and my lungs were jealous of the space being taken up by my stomach....read full review

Tj McChicken is a tiny, family-owned restaurant in Crockett, a little hole-in-the-wall that is not easy to find due to a lack of big signs but is very much worth it. The atmosphere has a real nice old country feeling, and the place is very clean. The people are lovely, friendly, and super kind, with a sweet lady running and cooking who is a darling. The food is amazing, down-home southern feel-good country cooking, all made in house down to the gravy or tartar sauce. It is the best country cooking, with damn good, seasoned well bone-in chicken and the best fried chicken. The catfish with hushpuppies and fried okra is also amazing. Portions are large and the flavor is so darn good. The fried okra could be crispier but is still good. It is a very cute little place, the best dang restaurant in Crockett, Houston County, and possibly Texas. You definitely need to go show them some love and will not regret it.
