I’ve been hesitant to try this place because just about everything else in Decatur is mediocre AT BEST…. I can tell you that this place is much better than I expected.EDIT- I decided to go back for breakfast a few days later and Unfortunately the breakfast tasted like it came from a completely different restaurant, aside from the weird menu “quirks” and penned in changes on half the menus they don’t serve pancakes and waffles during the week (yes, you read that right!!!) the eggs were WAY over cooked, the gravy was mediocre and overall it was not a good breakfast at all. I’m still leaving 4 stars because dinner was VERY good but I will not be back for breakfast.

Valentines dinner 2/14/23. We saw the post on Facebook and made plans and reservations. We walked in a few minutes early and were actually first in line. We were greeted and seated. The wine and service was outstanding. The salad was scrumptious, and the New York Strip was perfectly cooked. The loaded mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus were to die for. We had a beautiful small cake topped with chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.Kevin Lambert and Missy were gracious and accommodating in EVERY way.Jason Custer sang and played and kept us entertained all night.10 out of 10, would recommend!!

Soooooo. First time here. Have been looking forward to coming here for quite some time now. We arrived at around 6pm. Orders submitted around 6:30. It's now 7:30. Around 7:15pm, advised there was a "glitch" in their order system. Others came and went while we still sit here. Manager came to apologize. Let us know it should be another 15 minutes. For this, they offered "free desserts" for everyone to compensate and make up for the inconvenience. We now have our food..... Waiting to taste it ..... Several minutes later, half smoked chicken --> DELICIOUS. Catfish --> DELICIOUS --> CHICKEN FRIED STEAK --> DELICIOUS. The food is very tasty, yummy and satisfying. Portions are incredibly generous. Desert is extraordinary. Waitress was wonderful. Started off rough, but dinner with the family ended very well and we're delighted. Kudos to the manager and the waitress. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I believe the new name for this restaurant is Chisolm Trail but it was previously Hometown. We had a great experience here on New Year's Eve. It was moderately busy but we were seated quickly and had drinks on the table in short order. We liked the limited menu and ended up getting the veggie plate and smoked chicken. For starters, you get salad, hush puppies, and pinto beans. Unfortunately they were out of pintos which is a shame because we heard they were really good. [Edit: went back a 2nd time and folks were right, the pintos were really good] Basic garden salad was as expected but the hush puppies were awesome. They come with butter and there is honey on the table as well. The veggie plate comes with green beans, smashed potatoes (with skins), cowboy corn, biscuit and gravy. Of course pintos and hush puppies just keep coming to your table as well. It was a lot of food and very satisfying. Cowboy corn was different but excellent. It was in a sweet, creamy sauce and we really enjoyed it. Their biscuits are fantastic too.The smoked chicken (1/2 bird) was delicious. Not over smoked and cooked perfectly. We had a great experience and will be going back soon.

Went out with the family tonight for a birthday meal. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time as I've heard good things. I am so glad I did! The food was delicious and the portions are huge! The staff was friendly and attentive. The unlimited hush puppies are great addition to the meals. I got the hamburger steak and it was wonderful. Loaded with mushrooms, sauteed onions and delicious gravy. The smashed potatoes were fantastic. Couldn't be happier with our experience and highly recommend them!

The name is now Chisholm Trail. The atmosphere is great! The decorations are really nice. As soon as you’re seated they bring you a salad, pinto beans and hush puppies. The hush puppies are amazing! I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and cowboy corn. My daughter got the chicken strips with potatoes and green beans. Everything was really good. We really enjoyed the potatoes with the skins still in there. There was a lengthy wait for the food and we were told it was because they’ve just started a new cook and he’s still learning. It was worth the wait. The only thing lacking would be the service. We never received drink refills.

The website search was misleading. It’s not a deli with a bakery. So we gave it a try and attempted to order a lunch plate. When we told our server that we wanted to share and she said that she had to add a $9 vegetable plate to our order. A $20 lunch plate was not what we wanted. We wanted the $13 lunch plate with two sides. So we asked to share a hamburger and the server wasn’t happy with that either. We ordered no cheese—got cheese anyway with a small amount of fries Very disappointing experience. We will not return.

Everyone in Decatur should be eating at this restaurant! They have absolutely amazing food, and great service. My husband and I have been there several times, and his favorite entree is the smoked meatloaf. If you are a meatloaf fan, you HAVE to try this. Unlimited sides served family style. Delicious hushpuppies and beans served when you first arrive. Then salad, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn and biscuits.

The food was so good!!! We thought we would try it out and I am so glad we did. The decor in this place is fabulous!! The eggs were cooked perfectly and and so was the bacon. Biscuits and gravy were delicious. The hash browns were nice and crispy on the top and the pancakes were fluffy. The service was a little slow and we had to wait a while for our food to come out and we were left waiting for a refill but overall it was pretty good and we will be back for the food!!!

I'm not a big fan of this place, it was our first time eating here and we was really disappointed because we've heard how Good it is. Not much to choose from on the menu, the fish was chewy, small and thin, the chicken fried steak was overcooked. However the red beans was good as well as the corn. Our waitress was really nice and gave good service. I don't think we'll be eating here again.

We love going to this place. The staff is very nice and the service is excellent. The quality of food is great and the quantity of food is excellent. You will leave here with a full belly. I recommend the double fudge brownie with ice cream for dessert.

This home town restaurant is a whole new experience, you pick a meat,, sausage or bacon, pork chop, or combo,Then you get 2 eggs,,Then you get a tray of sides,,French toast, pancakes, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. It's really a lot more complicated than it is.Waitress explained it upon arrival, she was good, when we was done,, was expecting a giant bill. They charge 12.49 each, add milk and coffee,,came out to 37$.Really looking at it, not bad for 2 people and eating almost everything for a breakfast..Wife's only complaint was she didn't get to order anything,,she wanted a omelette with veggies,, they don't allow you to order anything except what there serving .Food was good,Service was good.Wait staff was good.Next time,, it'll be lunch or dinner at Home Town. It's a new experience that everyone should try..to each their own..We'll be back,

Diners share appetizer and vegetables but not meat choice. Smoked meatloaf wrapped in bacon is enough for two people.
