I have been a fan of Evan for as long as they have been open. But never again the new owns need to step there game up. Never have I every been served cold food. I will never spend another dime in this place.

There must have been a change of ownership. This place is no longer 4 stars and I am very disappointed. I ordered a half a slab of ribs, large Mac & beef and peach cobbler. Mac & ribs were dry. Peach cobbler has peaches half done. I have a bowl of peach soup smh. Neva again!

This review pains me. I lived in Desoto for years and this was my favorite place to eat. Both because the food was great and to be able to support my people on doing good business. I visited Evans today because I was in the city and wanted something good to eat. I should have read the reviews first... I could not believe what I paid for and simply could not make myself eat. This was pathetic. I honestly didn't know what I was eating. I had to through it away. I guess I'll have to look at it as my first and last donation to whatever cause that they have going on these days because I definitely can't say I payed for what they called food. It's been real Evans bbq.

First time eating there, ribs could be more tinder, and different sauces choices. Stay in area and never tried till now cobbler ok.

The flavoring is everything!!! My company ordered catering from this establishment, for an employees appreciation lunch. We were scheduled to pick our order up at 1pm , but sadly our food wasn't ready until after 2pm. We ordered: potato salad, baked beans, brisket, barbecue pork ribs, And one customized item (fully loaded baked potato). The food was fresh , hot and nicely put together. The issue was the texture of the food .. Not including the side dishes, but more so referring to the prepared meats (beef brisket and pork ribs ). The meats were extremely tough and hard to eat / digest. I actually took a little of the food home and recooked some of the items in my oven. The ribs were still a little tough / rough after recooking them. The fully loaded potatoes is probably the highlight of this review . The fully loaded potato was loaded with so much food and goodness that i couldn't find the baked potato. And I wouldn't be surprised if that potato was sent to actually feed the entire meeting. Only I took that fully loaded potato home to eat alone lol. I'm likely to revisit this place , because the food was good but just a little tough .

First time here and the presentation of the environment was not up to par… I completely lost my appetite after looking at the cleanliness of the front and only can imagine what it’s like in the back… Bae got a pound of brisket ($17.99) with a large side of pinto beans w/ ground beef ($5.80). The brisket taste better eaten with the bbq sauce… and he got through half of the beans before he had, had enough. Will try again in hopes that it meets the hype of those whom brag on them, that has eaten there for years.

Do Not I repeat eat here!!! I’ve been coming for years but the last 3 tries were absolutely horrible over cooked sausage the following two times today got hot links instead of sausage the ribs are not the same banana pudding blah $40 wasted won’t be returning!!! Close the doors……

I been knowing Ms Johnny and her husband for 30 yrs or more I used to enjoy their food I have never left a review for them but this time I needed too. I purchased a slab of ribs and a pork chop basket and I ended up throwing all the food in the trash it was so bad. $43.30 is what I paid for the food it was that bad. If I had known Ms Johnny had retired I wouldn't have even stopped by. Evans barbecue used to be one of the best but not no more. The ribs were actually that bad, the pork chops were horrible. If I could give a zero star I would. They should have at least trained the new staff and let people know they retired then that way clients know the food might not be the same. Oh well food was good for over 30 years, but you taking a chance now. I want be back.

I only give 1 star out of respect to Mrs. Johnnie and her husband who formerly owned and operated the restaurant. The latest reviews are true and repetitive due to the restaurant now being operated by their DAUGHTER! The young man behind the counter stated this past Tuesday that " the old owners gave it to their daughter, that's her just sitting out in car there" , him pointing right outfront . Not one customer was inside the restaurant ( I've never seen that in the past) and seemingly no workers were present until the young man came out from the kitchen 2/3 minutes later. On 3 occasions around 2:30/3pm they were already out of several menus items and/or" just don't have it today"! There's been a constant turn over of employees or a lack of for several months, kind of explain current restaurant service. They'll be closed in no time sooner than later.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE I went to Evans BBQ on a Saturday at 3:30p.m. with no customers inside. I stopped and walked inside. There were at least three employees behind the counter/employee area. One person took a phone call, one looked and said nothing, the other at least spoke. I stood there for at least five minutes and walked out without ever being helped. The one employee got off the phone and went to the back to speak with someone else regarding his phone call. I try to support BOB, but they make it hard to spend my money where I'm not acknowledged or served. Plus, what respectable BBQ place is out of ribs 4 to 5 hours before closing. I overheard that from the telephone conversation.

The customer service is good and the baked potato was as well. The prices aren’t to bad either. I got the beef baked potato and I will be back with my family to try something else in the near future.

I am so disappointed. My rib plate was cold and my ribs were burnt and old. We ordered extra toast and they didn't even include it. For rib plates to be $20 this is ridiculous. I will not be going back.

I've been coming here for years, like 20 years. This was my last visit. Food was horrible. Not to mention Ms Johnnie has retired. I was informed that it was still family owned, but whose family, somebody didn't pay attention on cooking skills. I pray that it gets better, but I just wasted money on something I couldn't eat, ribs were large and non tender and nothing but fat. I'm not gone mention fried okra, how can you go wrong with fried okra, oh but they did, overcooked crumbs, about 6 they gave me. Service was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ? GOOD LUCK

Visited Evans BBQ Saturday, May 7th about 3.30pm. There were a few people waiting when I arrived. I placed my order and waited, and waited, and waited, etc… In between FINALLY getting my order 30+ minutes later they managed to screw up EVERY SINGLE ORDER called before me! Some folk got items they did NOT order, some didn’t get what they DID order, customized (baked potato), orders were not fixed correctly, etc… On my end, I didn’t get my peach cobbler (they ultimately filled a “large” container only HALF FULL), nor the slice of pie and that was on top of the guy from the back trying to hand me a rack of ribs over the counter IN THE FOIL WRAPPER… and NOT in a bag!? Really? He’d actually done that with someone’s side dish earlier.After being a customer of Ms. Johnnie’s for over 10 years, the service and food quality is just not the same. Not sure I’ll be returning.

I should have went with my first mind and went to Mothers Basket, I wanted the pork chop basket so bad I came here which was closer. My food stayed under the heat lamp for 20 mins, deviate my ticket number didn't match and the lady that took my order went to the bathroom (for 20 minutes) but my name was on the ticket and they got said he had to wait until the lady came back to the front that took my order, then I asked for my money back! I had to still wait until the lady from the back came up!!!! WTH and this is b the S*** I paid 10 for, the customer service sucks, Mothers Basket will be getting my service from here on out! In order for me to post this I had to rate it, because they know they are trash
