I recently placed an order and, unfortunately, was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The brisket was extremely dry, and the mac and cheese had an unpleasant, soapy taste and gritty texture. Given the amount I spent on the meal, I was expecting a much better experience.

Update: We took the left over ribs home and put them on the grill to hopefully add some smoky or grilled flavor to them. Unfortunately it didn't help them at all. They were still bad.. I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately... This was not BBQ !! The ribs were boiled, then possibly baked, and had no flavor at all. The BBQ sauce is what gave it flavor. The fat wasn't even rendered out of the ribs. The mac and cheese was from a box (very disappointed), and the slaw had no flavor and was cut extremely large. The best part was the french fries. They were delicious, although they were stingy with them for costing so little to make. Where was the corn bread? That's a staple in BBQ. We were extremely disappointed in the food. It was served on a cute metal tray with paper on the bottom. When you put hot food on that paper, it melts, and you ended up eating paper, but the concept was cute. The atmosphere was ok. Our waiter was fantastic, but I have no idea who he was. Wish I could give him a shout-out !! Unfortunately, if you want real southern BBQ, this isn't the place to go. I'm trying to figure out where the 4.3 rating came from ?? It must have been from other items on the menu.

It's definitely in the top 3 of my locally owned bbq businesses in all the RGV! Family owned and never had a bad experience there! Be there early because like most good good bbq spots they can run out!

First time visit. Tried the Taco Trio.
Brisket, chicken & Fajitas. Charro beans as a side. Good Flavor and beans had a different twist in prep but were Good.
Definitely recommended.

We had been here once before and it was so good. This time around, they had large tables they were servicing so 2 people were probably not worthy of their time. We were seated at a table the was supposedly clean but had small pieces of meat all along 2 sides. We were probably there around 10 minutes at the least when we decided to leave. The vibe of bad service was strong. You wait staff walking by and not acknowledging you. See us talk about the table and doing nothing. I was going to ask that it be recleaned but never had the opportunity. We decided it was best to leave than have a bad experience. Maybe we would have been wrong, but it sure wasn't stacking up to be that way.

Took the family yesterday to try it out and it was some great bbq. Sadly they were out of the chicken but I always say that’s always a good thing. It means the chicken should be good. Service was great, establishment was clean and food was great. We will try it again.

Best green beans every. Brisket was dry no flavor. If I was in town longer I would of tried something different but the sides are great. Nice staff.

Man, BBQ is hard to come by in the RGV, but 492 BBQ on Trenton is pretty legit!

Juilo, my server treated me quite well with the service after a little mixup. Even came to check after serving which is very nice.

The food- banger. I went to the one in Mission and here, and I must say, I actually like the quality more here then there.

Had myself some moist brisket, Chicken Fajita, and Beef Short Rib for the meats and Green Beans & Corn on the Cob for the sides. I got water with the meal too.

Brisket was a little dry on the bark, but overall tasted pretty moist and well made. Not my favorite brisket in the valley, but a top 3 so far.

The short rib was excellent as it had a nice touch of BBQ sauce on top which made it super moist and tender. Very good.

The chicken fajita caught me by how well it actually was. I thought it would be dry but no, that thigh meat was really good and well seasoned.

Green beans and corn was great! Corn was buttered well and the green beans were tossed in a garlic-like sauce. Highly recomend.

Overall, yeah, it's pretty good. Come here if you want some really good BBQ if your nearby or maybe near UTRGV.

4.5/5.

Worst service ever. It took one hour to get the food. Then, they brought wrong food and the waitress was like mad with us. I mentioned about the long time and she just ignored and left, without saying any Reason about the time.
