Wanted to give a better review because the service was great and the people were very friendly but Taco's were a little small and my barbacoa taco was very dried out with my tortilla being hard. Bean and cheese and carne guisada were good but had very little cheese. My wife said her tacos were good.
I contemplated leaving a review because I would like to keep Los Portales my little secret. However, it would be selfish of me not to share and this restaurant deserves the business. If there was a restaurant to call home this would be my home restaurant but not only because of its proximity to my residence but also how you feel when you visit here. I live close by so it's a very convenient place for the locals to get tacos at a reasonable price as it's the only restaurant in the middle of Elmendorf. Most customers are local, but it also gets some business from outsiders passing through. It's also the third variation of the restaurant as the owner has changed three times in eight years I have lived here.
