Although close to I-35, this restaurant could certainly be described as "off the beaten path." The staff are friendly, offer a 10% discount to veterans and service personnel, and serve up the kind of top quality 'cue that merited inclusion in an earlier edition of the Texas Monthly Top 50. We enjoyed free samples of the brisket chili (very good) and brisket sausage, which we promptly ordered with two sides (seasoned fries and green beans). We also shared a brisket cheese burger and a second order of seasoned fries. Add in two refillable soft drinks, and the meal came to $24.09-- really good value. We visited 6 BBQ joints in Texas on this trip, all of them either in a Texas Monthly Top 50, or the recent new top 25. We ranked Longoria's 3/6: the sides need some work.
