Not the Stricklands I remember going to as a young one with my Dad on road trips from RGV to SA. Used to have the best CFS! They have the same old school vibe inside but they need to Fix the sub-par salad and go back to drawing board on Chicken Fried Steak (maybe thicker cubed steaks). Must have had some changes over the years. I'd give it another chance though. Good people serving and timeless atmosphere.
We ordered brisket and we had different opinions on it. I say it was little bit dry and it could have been more tender like it was not from today, but the guys said it was very good! The portion was generous and the mashed potato was natural so I really liked it. I felt the green beans were a little overcooked and salty, but overall it was good. Authentic S TX food and friendly service. Their chicken friend steak and gravy is perfect! The fish was delicious, too. I am eager to try more dishes on the menu at my new favorite place to eat!
