This is a small restaurant great for an intimate dinner. I made a reservation for my friend's birthday. They gave us a complimentary glass of wine for the occasion. The food had so much flavor, variety, and color. The gumbo was average, but I would definitely reorder everything else. I can't wait to go back.

What we ordered:
My Mothers Gumbo
Southern Greens topped with Thai Chili Vinegar
Texas Peach Salad
Texas Redfish
New Zealand Lamb Chops
Orange Juice Cake

My grandmother passed away a few years ago. Her gumbo was “the family recipe” and it was delicious. I sit with my grandmother when I eat here. The food includes some inventive and scrumptious takes on old favorites. Try the shrimp and grits. I’ll be making my way through the menu. In truth, the gumbo, greens and cornbread has truly stolen my palate and my heart. Like I said, that’s my grandmas table, straight from St Charles,La. Roots is just the right word. The service and art should be noted and appreciated. It’s a little off the beaten path but I guess I’d go to the ends of the earth for my grandmas gumbo.

High expectations and there was NO disappointment. From the server to the timeliness of the food, to the taste and quality of the food it is a tremendous experience.

To say the food was phenomenal is an understatement. The restaurant has some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. And don’t get me started on the cornbread. During, my visit I sat at the bar and the drinks were top notch as well. I don’t live in the Dallas area but when I visit this will be one of my go to spots.

Update: Been back a few times. Pork Belly was wonderful. The fried chicken and Shrimp and Grits are consistent favorites. The service on this last visit was kinda eh, but I won't let that stop us from returning. The good outweighs the bad so we will be back.

This was my second time coming and the food was even better. We had a nice sampling of Hoppin John, Greens Shrimp n Grits, Lamb Chops, Red Fish and Salmon. An added bonus was seeing Chef Tiffany in her element. Everything was soooo good. Everyone at our table had a clean plate. Reservations are recommended!!

Do not be deceived by the reviews. The food and drinks are mediocre at best. My Iraqi wife cooks better southern food than this imposter establishment. The interior design is confused and the floor is over crowded with tables. Service is excellent and swift. The only southern thing about this restaurant was our servers kindness and hospitality.

We had the most wonderful waitress! She made our out of town visitor so welcome. I can’t remember her name! She gave us an amazing birthday dinner. Thanks again!

Literally the best and ultra luxurious fried chicken. Space is a bit loud, but service phenomenal.

I’m kind of a service first person and our service was poor. Drinks came after food delivered, could not get a glass of wine even after we asked more than once. Flounder was salty, no sauce and hardly a veggie in site. Fried Chicken was good and plentiful.

Highly recommend!! I have been twice in the last 1.5 years and have had two of the best meals in as much time here! I had the sea scallops and passion fruit dessert this time and both were insanely good and intricate in their composition and plating. The Smooth Operator cocktail with seasonal strawberry puree was also delightful. Last time I had the Texas redfish and a romanesco side that is not currently on the menu, both of which were also SO good. A little more rustic than my latest choices, so there is variety to be had. I’ve stop in when visiting Dallas for work, so was a solo guest. I sat at the bar my first time and got to see Chef Tiffany in action for a bit. This time I sat in the sunroom, which was quiet and chill. Both times had great service and everyone was very friendly.

Mixed Experience — Great Drinks & Ambiance, but Overpriced Chicken

We had reservations and arrived 5 minutes early, but weren’t seated until about 10–15 minutes after our reservation time. We were also told we’d get a booth, but ended up at an uneven table that was pushed together. The waiter gave off more of a salesman vibe, when all we wanted was to relax and enjoy time with friends.

The food was okay—not bad, but not spectacular for the price. I do not recommend the fried chicken. At $54 for a 10-piece meal (without sides), it felt very overpriced, especially since you could get something similar at KFC, Popeyes, or Williams Chicken for much less. Definitely overhyped in my opinion. The Hoppin’ John’s and the Biscuits were my spouse favorite out of everything we had and tasted. I ordered a side of greens which was decent, and the hush puppies come with the greens. They call the hush puppies hot water cornbread. However, those born and raised in the south know what hot water cornbread is. I added the photos and you can see for yourself that it’s hush puppies but they call it “hot water cornbread”

On the positive side, the drink was amazing. I ordered a blackberry mojito (not listed on the menu), and the bartender kindly made it for me—thank you! My friends enjoyed their meals, especially the New Zealand chops and the Texas Redfish.

The ambiance is nice, and the location in the shopping complex is convenient. Just be aware the restaurant itself is quite small—tight and intimate in terms of space.

Food: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) – Just okay for the price; fried chicken was disappointing, though friends enjoyed their dishes.
• Atmosphere: ★★★★☆ (4/5) – Nice ambiance and location, but small, tight, and intimate space.
• Service: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) – Waiter felt pushy/salesman-like, plus a seating delay and table issue, though the bartender was accommodating with your custom drink.

👉🏾Overall: ★★★★☆ (4 out 5 stars) – A mixed but decent experience, elevated by the drinks and ambiance. Beautiful atmosphere and solid drinks, but food value and seating experience could be improved.
