Chopped beef sandwich was more like shredded beef. Bbq sauce overwhelmed the beef. Blueberry pie was gelatin. Pecan pie was ok.

Very disappointed. The food was dry, no trimmings like onions pickles and no bread.
They have a very bad attitude and they make you feel unwelcome.
It was a really bad experience. We ate our food fast (hard brisket and dry, no flavor) because we couldn't stand being there due to their bad attitude.

Well well right of the bat we were not welcome at this TX BBQ joint. The woman who was taking our orders was possibly having a bad day, but considering her overall attitude her way of living is the problem that she takes out on customers. So so rude and inconsiderate. Asked for the bathroom (as we were customers), she said there is no available bathroom on site. Which was a LIE big one mind you. Other customer told us that restrooms were located outside the bbq joint. Ok. My husband proceeded to ask her something, and she turned her back and walked of like we were not even there. Quality of the food is mediocre. Prices are decent. Quantities are questionable. You get way less than a normal considerable portion would be expected. Pass this place it just NOT IT.

This place has gone downhill!!!!! Man that took our order was not friendly. When our food arrived, it looked dry, coleslaw and potato salad looked store bought. The brisket had ZERO flavor, completely dry and chewy. The chicken was beyond dry and the ribs were less than mediocre. My friend threw away her entire $18.95 brisket plate. While trying to eat, the man who took our order had his cell on speaker phone and we had to hear all about his fence. Overall horrible experience. Too bad it’s not like it used to be 25 years ago. I will never stop there again, beyond disappointing!

The brisket tastes like leftovers from a few days ago.. I wouldn’t come back to this place if it was the last thing to eat on earth.. I don’t understand how they are still operating.

Quick stop on the way to SA. Ribs, sausage with sides of potato salad and coldslaw were on point. Price was a bonus! Great stop for a quick bite.

Disappointing Texas BBQ. The brisket and chicken were as dry as their customer service. The portion of potato salad was small, and the beans were nothing special. The separate indoor and outdoor seating area was nice.

Just stopped in for a quick bite. Not only was I blessed with amazing moist, fatty and flavorful brisket, but the chicken and sausage was delicious. I watched the owner hold a present and passionate conversation with 5 customers whom he knew all their names. For starters, service is top tier, the food was just bonus blessing. If you're traveling I10. Stop early and don't settle for the beavers BBQ up the road. Exit 661 just north west of the intersection. Thank you for having me.

Barbecue and sausage was pretty good. Ribs had a hint of honey to the taste, really good 👍🏾 😋

The older woman at the counter was completely rude and refused to let us order because I had my service dog with me.
On a recent road trip with my current side chick, we stumbled upon Joel's BBQ. We smelled a deep, earthy, wood-fired aroma upon arrival at exit 661, I-10, a smoky essence, hints of mesquite/pecan/oak.
The meats rich, savory scent, fatty richness, paired with its rendered glory, pepper and spice rub, is amazingly delicious. The BBQ Sauce is amazingly tangy, with a hint of sweetness, and a smooth comforting flavor.
The potato salad pairs well with the brisket. The potato salad is a tangy counterpoint, creamy cool, vinegary zing, bright, fresh herb infused with a golden mustard accent...zesty flavor in each bite. There are a fee tables for dining in inside, but there is also, a dining hall next door that is full of tables and generous seating, to enjoy your BBQ meal, this is also where the restrooms are located..
