This story starts about 15 years ago when I found Tacos OJ in her original location just a few blocks away. I still remember having the fish tacos for the first time. I've been full time travel with the company I work for and every chance I get to make it to Stockton I make a point to eat at OJ. I never had nothing I didn't like. Always awesome food and service to. Hope it won't be to long before I get back there.

Such ordinary Mexican food! Pallid beans, tough rice, and bland sauces. One could throw the salsa through a screen door. However, service was exceedingly slow, so we had time to get really hungry; as a result, we ate more than we would have otherwise.Oh, our table had a puddle of sticky stuff in the middle when we were seated.The wait staff—very pleasant.

Some of THE BEST and most authentic TexMex food I've had anywhere in the country. My wife's fajitas and my stuffed burrito were AMAZING! We also had awesome fresh guacamole, and the chips and salsa were perfectly warmed and just-right spicy, respectively. All of this was made and served by a warmly welcoming staff.We visited on a Wednesday evening and Tacos OJ seemed to fill up pretty quickly during the dinner hour...which is a testament to how good this cuisine is! Make it a point to stop when staying in Fort Stockton, or even if you're just passing by.
I usually don't like to go Karen on anyone or any establishments, but i was super close to blowing my lid here. We waited almost 2 hours for our food while other tables that arrived later than us ate and left before we got anything. To add to that, some of the food was cold when we got it. The taste of the food was what won some points back, although they do go heavy on the grease with some of the dishes. The Mexican rice was a little dry, but the flavor was pretty decent and authentic. The ground beef tacos had good flavor but did have a bit too much grease for my liking. The salsa was very good and had an adequate heat level. The tostadas were made in-house but were so full of oil that they were sticking together. You should know that there are no free refills on beverages; you do get 1 refill with tea. I might not be grading this restaurant fairly, as i was really upset about the wait time, but i feel like a 3 star grade is being generous.
