We shared the Tavern tots with friends! They all agreed they were great ?! The Tavern salad with grilled shrimp was the best! I loved the dressing. The staff is always friendly and helpful! This was B1895's first night with music! PLUS Wednesday is half priced wine by the glass!

We had a reservation but they didn't seem to have a table ready for us. They were able to accommodate us so that was great. However, once we were seated, the service was extremely slow. They seemed to be short staffed, which happens, but never apologized or even seemed to hurry. Our waitress stopped and chatted extensively with several tables while we waited. We had to request water refills several times. The food was fine but the prices were not worth it. At some point, the AC seemed to stop working. There was no airflow and it got uncomfortably hot.

Excellent food and service! This was our first visit and it was great. The service was on point from the moment we sat down at our table - we had water and menus. We got two snacks (appetizers) - the chips and the onion rings. The chips were absolutely wonderful! My husband got steak (it was steak night) and I got the Caesar salad with the shrimp scampi on it. The shrimp was some of the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life! From the seasoning to the cook, they were a 10/10! Our only complaint (and nothing to take away from my 5 star review) was that it was a little warm in the restaurant and we were sweating by the time we were done with our meal.

Each dish was excellent. We shared an entree and a desert they were plentiful. On another visit the table side preparation of my steak was fun and the sauce was really quite good - and I don't like sauces on my steaks.

Four of us went for dinner based on a good review for lunch by one in our number. We found to that no substitutions were allowed on the dinner menu (although they were allowed on the lunch menu ?). The food was just OK - considering the high prices, that was not good enough. Considering the high prices, odd menu combinations and iffy service (slow, did not check back often enough) we will not be going back.

we come here to eat from time to time, and loved this place...until now, so it gives me no pleasure to write this. (Note: This experience wasnt a one time thing, we had experienced bad service the time before and chalked it up to a bad day. ) We had eaten here a total of 8 times over a 2 year period. First of all I guess the AC was out, or going out, or something, it was hot inside. I even saw one of the workers sweating heavily, so I knew it wasn't just me. We sat and had to wait at least 15 minutes before our waiter, David Black took our appetizer order. We ordered lobster bisque, and a brie/date salad. The lobster bisque tasted like shrimp soup, there was no lobster in the soup, shrimp on the side. We both took one bite and immediately were displeased. It wasn't creamy and looked and tasted more like a brine. The salad was ok, but not worth 15 bucks. We got bread and butter, it was amazing like always, so we asked for more and received what looked like scraps, small bits and pieces, not sliced. Wife had ordered a Moscow mule, and was gone at this point. The owners, chef, bartenders all walked past us several times, nevered offered to get us another drink, refill our water or ask about why we hadn't touched the bisque. There were only 4 tables with customers and a few people at the bar. Finally roughly 15 minutes later, guy finally comes by and sees we didnt eat the bisque, we had decided at this point to leave, we weren't going to finish the meal. We explained that we had been sitting there waiting on someone to come by to send the bisque back. I could understand if they were busy, they weren't, and they had been going back and forth to 2 other tables the entire time we were sitting there, seemed like they knew the people at the tables, but what was frustrating was they had to pass by our table each time they went to the other tables. The waiter seemed miffed that we were leaving, but never asked us anything, he was ok with a customer leaving like this. I guess we dont meet the clientele of this place, or something, but each time we ate here previously we would drop at least 100 dollars. Then when waiter brought us our bill, he left the bisque on the tab, we had to ask him to remove it. And on top of that they are charging 3.99% for credit card transactions, who the hell these days charge fees for credit cards? Sad to say we wont be back, we really loved this place, but the whole experience was a slap in our face. We pay good money to eat here, there are a lot of other places we can spend our money.

My husband and I went here because Eric Sandler had listed it in his top 100 restaurants in Houston and area. I have no idea what he eats there or how many times he has gone there...perhaps they know him there...either way....what an incredible failure. We arrived at 11;15 am..ordered drinks which did come in a timely manner...our server, Zac was very nice....we ordered breakfast...eggs, bacon, pancakes..we waited for 45 minutes...Zac never came by to update us to when our food may come...I looked around and the restaurant was 2/3s filled and only 3 tables had food. One table had already left due to their wait...my husband asked for our check and we told Zac that waiting this long for scambled eggs, etc was a bit much and he could not tell us when we might get our food. We paid our check and left...along with another table of 3 people. 3 tables of customers left within 10 minutes of each other. Do not waste your time...they obviously cannot get their kitchen working together to be successful. I do not understand how they received their rating from Mr. Sandler.
