I tried HOT Tamales last Sunday, on a rainy Cinco de Mayo. Parking Parking is a breeze. The food truck is on a lot all to itself. The truck The truck has a nice setup. There's a nice covered ordering area and digital menus listing all their prices. Fancy and impressive for a food truck. It also looked very clean inside. My order I ordered 6 spicy pork tamales, 6 bean tamales, chips and queso and salsa. 6 tamales is the minimum number of each you can order. I had to order a large salsa. Sadly they don't give you small complimentary salsas like most restaurants do and they only have one size that you can purchase. I think 5 ounces, same size as the queso. There was a 15 min wait for the bean tamales. No problem. I waited. The salsa was watery and had no flavor. Seemed like mostly tomatoes and maybe 1 pepper, maybe a small onion and with zero seasoning. The queso was watery and very salty. The spicy pork tamales not only had no spice but just no flavor at all. It made me wonder how their regular pork tamales taste. Both spicy pork and bean tamales were flavorless. It seemed like I was eating unseasoned masa with no tamale filling. HEB's Mi Tienda tamales taste better. I also ate a few of my leftover tamales for lunch the next day hoping the seasoning had set in and the tamales would have some flavor. Unfortunately there was no improvement. Packaging I will say. I loved how neatly they wrapped the tamales. The service The service was pretty good and I was treated kindly and respectfully by the gentleman who seemed to be both cooking and taking orders. I really wanted to like Hot Tamales but I doubt that I'll return.

Everytime I go home, I have to stop here!I love the tamales and the queso. It's so reasonably priced. Very hard to pass on if your looking for great food for an amazing price.Thank you for carrying on the family legacy by keeping this business going. I'll come back next time I visit.

Always, always, always delicious! Even though I buy to take home, I open one of the packages in order to test/taste...just to make sure.

My new job route takes me down 2351. I saw the Hot Tamale Truck on my way home for over a week. I decided to Google it. Great reviews and thought if they have been in business since 1976 they must be doing it right! Today I decided to stop in. Woe just Wow! The Tamales were definitely best I've had! The service was great and easy pay. A Dozen is $12! That's a 1.00 Tamale ! And it's soo good. The guacamole is 4.50 & is amazing. Its alot packed in that little container. Feed 4 people easily. The Nice size bag of chips for 3 or 4 people is a dollar! Definitely recommend and I'll be picking up on my way home at least once a week!

WOOOHOOO! Oh my gosh! I am in heaven!I have been away from The Houston area for 5 years, and now that I am back... this is one of the first places that I made a B-line for. I have been to a lot of places and the last place was New Mexico. They do NOT know how to do tamales. This is the one place I know that has an amazing flavor, more meat than I have seen in other tamales, and AMAZING prices! This truck has been doing this for many years now. It is literally one of the best-kept secrets in the city. I have a hard time with hot spices and their mild is very flavorful but yet not too spicy... for me anyway. I have a lot of trouble just eating table pepper, but this is beyond wonderful!
