Being able to reccomend their sides & desserts should tell you everything you need to know of our experience there. The pinto beans and the buttermilk pie were excellent, everything else was anywhere from poor to middlin' at best. Perhaps they just were having a bad day minding the pit?Orders were for a beef rib and 3 pork spareribs with potato salad and pinto bean sides, and the sliced brisket with mac & cheese and pinto beans, as well as a slice of buttermilk pie to share. The beef rib was chewy and stringy but did have decently smoked flavor, the pork ribs were roughly the same, neither fell off the bone nor had a decent clean bite when eating. The sliced brisket (ordered marbled) was the best of the proteins, but even at that seemed average as far a juiciness and flavor. Overall the proteins in our opinion ranked 1.5/5 starsThe mac & cheese apparently is made with American cheese powder to judge by the color of the sauce, and it appears the potato salad is bulk deli purchased. The pinto beans were wonderful and the butermilk pie was very tasty. On balance they earned 3.5/5 stars.Portions were fair and prices were decent as value for the money goes, but overall we felt for the total cost of just over $64 for lunch for 2 that we would have eaten better had we just gone to a chain retaurant such as Dickey's or Famous Dave's. Value-wise maybe 1/5 starsService was quick and friendly (5/5 stars) and we enjoyed the atmosphere overall(4/5 stars) so we will probably give them another try someday, in hopes that the meal quality being off on this visit was an outlier.

I went to Austin last week and stopped at Lost Pines, for lunch, and I was looking forward to have a good time and the food was spoiled the corn was spoiled, and the chicken was overcooked. The only reason I stopped there is because I had been there before and that food was good, but this time the worst barbecue!
Ohh Lost Pines. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure of enjoying your wonderful BBQ sandwiches. We were on the way to Matamoros ??, when we got the sudden urge for BBQ. We took a chance with Lost Pines and came out with a W! The brisket was delicious. The sauce was a delight. Anddddd the staff were extremely kind and helpful even though they were almost closed. Shouts out to y'all ??My amazing perfect gf loved the Mac and cheese as well ⭐ ?

The bake potato was hot and delicious and just the right size to hit the spot. It is made all the way with chopped beef. Bathrooms are clean and hand sanitizer available at the counter. Old country tunes in the radio.

Best place to go for BBQ, I can see why they've been in business for so long. The quarter chicken is our favorite, it falls off the bone ? totally recommend!
We stopped by Saturdy evening around 5:30 and Lost Pines still had plenty of BBQ. I had the 2 meat plate with the Briskett, Mac & Cheese and green beans. I really liked that I was given a choice between the lean briskett or marbled. Lots of flavor, good bbq sauce and plenty of seating. Not a restaurant in the traditional sense. It's a walk up counter, with food in a glass case. You order and carry food back to your table. Friendly service. I definately recommed.

What a hidden gem! GREAT bbq sauce (really good, a bit of a kick, sweet and Smokey, runny for good flavoring, coleslaw (sugar and vinegar vinaigrette, sweet but perfect blend) & bacon green beans, + nana pudding’ (home baked snickerdoodles instead of vanilla wafers), only thing is sausage is ground very fine, which is not my thing. Highly recommend for roadside bbq!!Kid-friendliness: Basic cafe, nothing breakable :)
