Solid choice in a great little Texas town we visit often
Parking: This little historic community was built in simpler times. Im positive the founders of this town never expected how much Texans would love visiting shopping and eating here. So parking can be challenging. However it is worth the extra time to visit.

It's not like any sandwich you ever ate before I drive an hour to come get one I would drive 2 or 3 it's that good .but that's just my opinion. Oh and there homemade pies and bread pudding are awesome..

Awesome little gem in Jefferson . Sandwiches made with cornbread.... super delicious. They are also well know for their pies.

Not going to lie, my wife and I were a little disappointed when we ate here. I never head a cornbread sandwich and honestly, it was a big let down. While the sandwich tasted fine, the bottom slice of the cornbread was almost completely soggy- as if either they microwaved it to reheat it- or perhaps it was sitting for too long before it was served. Either way, it was very disappointing. Service was kind of slow too. We waited 35 minutes for a soggy sandwich and soup!
On the positive side, the soup and my wife's broccoli salad was delicious and the atmosphere was great- a nice small town, hole in the wall diner feel to it. Prices were good, too.
The pie looked good, but we didn't order dessert.
If we ever go back to Jefferson we would probably try it again, but our first experience wasn't great.

I ordered a tuna wrap to go that had hardly any tuna in it. There was tons of spinach leaves with a smear of tuna. I was very disappointed.
Fried bologna sandwich was a disappointment. The cornbread was so sweet I could not taste the meat. Also, when I fry bologna I use a thick slice. This was just a regular, sandwich cut. Not good. Wife had good chicken and dumplings.

Gluten free items! Excellent food overall including our sons gluten free cornbread sandwich and the pies. If you're looking to eat in Jefferson, this is a great place.
Be ready for a wait ranging from a few minutes to an hour depending on the time. Staff are working their tails off.

This restaurant is always packed and after several years finally was able to get here first. The food is delicious! Never would have thought a sandwich made with cornbread would be this good but it is. I had the jalapeño cornbread and it was not too hot but could taste the jalapeño. M grandmother had the plain and she enjoyed it. Would come here again!
