Love this place....only thing that bothers me is there white board menu...but no prices. The food was excellent but was shocked at the prices....The platos are 13.50 or 14.00 I chose beef enchiladas, had 4 enchiladas, beans and rice....more food than I should eat. Wish they would be more upfront w their prices. A part of me thinks that Gringos are charged more than the hispanic customers...

This is a family-run restaurant, and I’m so glad they’ve chosen to open their restaurant! The food is prepared right there on the spot, including the tortillas and sopes. But please be respectful and don’t come 3 minutes before closing time. I’ve come twice now and both times a part of 6 literally walked in 3 minutes before closing.

The lady running the kitchen made me the breakfast burrito after I ordered it from scratch. Amazing. The hot sauces, both red and green were flavorful and spicy. This place was a 10 out of 10, but I only ordered the breakfast burrito. Can't recommend anything else, but will try other stuff and let you know.

I finally found my authentic Mexican food restaurant. Well worth the drive to Kilgore. Forget the frills of chain food restaurants. This restaurant is a hidden gem behind a store front and has a very simple menu. It's your abuelita's (grandma's) kitchen. My favorite comfort food...Caldo de Res. DELICIOUS!

Looks are deceiving. This Mexican Market/Restaurant is not your typical looking diner. We walked through the market and found the dining area towards the back. We were greeted and long story short, the service and food was impeccable. We are foodies and have a palette for authentic Mexican food (we both are Mex/American and grew up eating recipes from our mothers and grandmothers). The homemade tortillas along with our food was very delicious. We definitely recommend Carmelita's, (the cook), for your next Mexican dish.
