I visited this restaurant 20 years ago and was surprised to drive by and to see that it was still open. It was excellent before and still is. We were a group of 6 and had a wonderful lunch.

I visited Jardín del Rey in Leander for breakfast and ordered the carnitas and eggs plate. Honestly, it was just okay — I’d rate it about a 3 or 4 out of 10. Maybe it’s because I’m from San Antonio, but the Mexican food here just doesn’t hit the same. The tortillas tasted store-bought (like Taco Bell style), which is a big deal for me since homemade tortillas make all the difference. Beans were okay, potatoes were few, eggs were cooked right, but the carnitas were a little dry and lacking flavor. Service was fine overall, but I wouldn’t go back.

The beef crunchy tacos were very good. The chicken taco salad was disappointing. While the chicken was very tasty, the lettuce was clearly out of a bag and very wet. It also was served on a plate.
The service, however was great.

Really good Mexican food. I have been a customer for over 25 years or more since their first store opened up in Austin. This restaurant is very good and consistent.

I've already reviewed this place according to Google. Second review, still incredible. If I could give it 6 stars, I would give it seven.

Got the combo fajitas, all the meat was overcooked. The shrimp were chewy, and the pork was gelatinous. I don't even know how else to describe that. The service we had was terrible and this is coming from 2 servers that were sitting at this table, one of us had been in the business for almost 30 years. One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant since I moved to Austin. The only thing that was worth eating was the queso.
And we came at a slow time during the day. There wasn't a whole lot of people in there. Our server basically ignored us. I barely saw him. I saw him 3 times when he took the meal. When he delivered it And then when we asked for the check, we sat with no drinks for a while.Ran out of salsa because the food was not good enough for us to keep eating it.
