We have driven by hundreds of times but had never stopped to check out La Chaparrita. My wife wanted to try it for dinner and all three of us were happy with what we ordered. My daughter and wife shared the fried shrimp & fish combo plate along with an order of freshly made churro’s with chocolate sauce. I had the beef fajita plate with corn tortillas. The three salsas we had were also very good. Granted, this is coming from a Pinay, a Native Texan Gringo and a little Fil-Am princess…every part of what we ordered was excellent! We will for sure be back soon.
This is a nice Mexican meat market and grocery store. Friendly staff and pretty decent selection.
The food was horrible
If you need your taco fix at 7am on a Sunday this is the place.
If your looking to cook a good authentic Mexican mean go here to stock up on the goods. Plus it a mini mart and a restaurant. So many options.
Avoid if you care about yourself. They sell expired products. Bought two chips on July 10. One had an expired label July 8 (made in Honduras so assume it's not date of make) the other had a sticker over a sticker hiding older expiry date.
They have great food coming out of the kitchen. All their tacos are good, but their tacos al pastor are always on target and my go to. Their menudo is full of flavor. The meat market offers traditional cuts and I've never had any issues with anything I buy here. However, this last time, their tamales Veracruzanos needed some attention. The masa needs to be better incorporated with the lard to remain firm and not crumbly. I did find a rib bone in one and not much pork rib meat. The other tamales are good and wrapped in traditional corn husk, while the Veracruzanos come wrapped in banana leaves. The staff is cordial and friendly. I've been coming here for years and my Mexican aunt liked coming here after her chemotherapy treatments. Be sure to check your final payment, as I was accidentally charged $11.98 for 2 tacos but got a full refund when I went back, and they also covered the pork rib tamal that didn't meet the standard. Being half Salvadorian and half Mexican, has provided me with excellent examples of both cuisines and their cooked meals meets the requirements for good traditional comfort food. My only wish, would be for them to also offer pupusas. Big thanks to the staff for being so customer oriented. Good Job ?
Fantastic food! Tasty meats!
There are 2 times that he bought slices of cake, it just so happens that both times they are spoiled and in different months. That's why I don't recommend buying there.
Customer service isn’t great. Cashier named “Joslynn” was rude and really needs to work on her customer service skills. Food looked weird & over cooked and instantly turned my stomach. Definitely wasn’t hungry after seeing the food case. Oh, and they charge just to use your “credit/debit” like who does that? Lmbo you’re expected to look at the fine print when paying. Definitely won’t be back’ I rather drive to Austin for my meat than have to pay a fee for my already overpriced groceries. ?
