This will be the 1st negative review I’ve ever written.Disclaimer: It’s 100% our fault for not doing our due diligence to vet this caterer before choosing them.P.S. We booked “Southern Drawl BBQ” but “Seven Loaves” appears to be the parent company–which is run by the same people–so we left the review for both.Having said all that, our experience with them was a catastrophe. The issues are listed below but the TL;DR is: they fumbled the ball so badly so many times that we ended up deciding to fire them, eat the $3,100 we'd already pre-paid them, and hire a new caterer rather than sticking with them. The owner will inevitably respond to this review trying to downplay these issues and probably accuse us of “review blackmail” or whatever, but just use your imagination to consider how badly a caterer would have to screw the pooch for you to light $3,100 of your money on fire rather than use them.If you’re OK rolling those dice, they might work out for you. Otherwise, my advice is to go with a more reputable company instead (we used Patriotic Pig and the difference was night-and-day).The (incomplete) list of issues:Poor communication: Our POC (Leslie) became progressively less reliable in both response time & (more importantly) helpfulness the closer we got to the wedding. We spent several days struggling to arrange a tasting so that we could choose the final items for our wedding.Nickel-and-diming for the tasting: At first they said it’d be $300 for a tasting, which seemed odd. Apparently their restaurant closed down so they’re unable to accommodate tastings ad hoc without commissioning their staff, wasting food, etc. Ok.When we reminded them that they have a food truck, other events, etc, they said something like “oh yea we can do a tasting for no cost” (?); then the day we were scheduled to pick up the food they sent us a bill for $100 (??); then when we reminded them that they said it’d be no cost they said “oh yea you’re right” and then.. promptly sent us a bill for $50 (???).At that point we just said whatever and paid. Not sweating $50, obviously, but the poor communication and nickel-and-diming was beginning to drain our confidence.Inconsiderate/bad service: When we did finally get the tasting worked out, they left my fiancee stranded in the parking lot for 30+ minutes. When she arrived at the scheduled pick-up time they were MIA. She knocked on the front door (locked, no answer); drove around back & knocked on the back door (locked, no answer); called them multiple times (no answer); texted them multiple times (no reply).Just as she was about to leave (already late getting back to work), they finally opened the door and let her in (where she waited another 10 minutes). Total waiting time: ~40 minutes. No apologies, no heads-up that the food was running late, no explanation for why they were MIA, etc.Just astonishingly inconsiderate. Confidence level was running on fumes at this point.Food issues: The appetizer “street tacos” were comically large jumbo tacos. Totally inappropriate for a wedding appetizer. They were also smothered with a super rich salty/sweet sauce that, when combined with the already salty brisket, became a diabetes bomb of salt and sugar. We also bit into hard objects in the brisket multiple times. Not sure if it was bone or what but I almost chipped my tooth. Had to toss it.Finally, we both got sick after the tasting. *To be clear: not violently ill or anything, and it may have just been a coincidence, but we both had upset stomachs for 24 hours afterwards.*At this point, our confidence meter had drained to zero. When I reached out to tell them we’ve lost confidence, we’re going a different direction for our caterer, and to inquire about a *partial* reimbursement of what we’d paid, the *first* thing they said was [paraphrasing] “per the contract you’re SOL.”There’s a lot more we wanted to say but we’ve reached the character limit. When the owner replies maybe we’ll be able to share more.

I purchase the below items from the food truck at The Preserve of Pecan Creek on 05/21/22. Food was cold and looked nothing like their website food presentation. I gave their food one star due to taste and appearance.

This review is in reference to their mobile food truck. On this day they were kind enough to give discounts to our HOA event in Highland Village. We ordered the two-meat plate and chose brisket/ pork combination plate (about $14). That comes with two sides which we chose as green chile macaroni, and corn. We also ordered the brisket and pork tacos ($4) each. There were about three orders ahead of us but I think it only took about 10 mins or less to get our food. So service time pretty good in my opinion. As far as the tacos go, they are served with one tortilla and it's fairly decent size and for sure stuffed with both flavor, some toppings and well seasoned. Also a flavorful sauce on both. The brisket taco was out of this world, but for me that's also because it had a nice brisket fat content to it which I personally feel is where all the flavor is hidden. The pulled pork taco, however, was great on a taste level but just a tad bit dry. As for the combo plate the meats pretty much played out the same way as you can imagine. Can't say enough about the brisket and the bark and the flavor and so on and so on. To reiterate the pork was just a tad bit dry but very tasty to eat, but again I've already taken that into account for the score. As for the green chile macaroni, I have to rate it as pretty darn good. The reason? My wife and I were splitting the plate, but somehow the green chile macaroni never made it to me because she wolfed it down. So by that rationale it must be good if she didn't even want to share! The corn also a very great mix of flavors, the style perhaps akin to helotes with the mayonnaise and butter highly seasoned. Highly in this case meaning very flavorful with a pretty decent kick to it. Too much kick for my 10 year old but I couldn't put it down. So over all about $22 normal cost, but I think with the event discount it was like $13 and $15 with tip at the credit card machine. I believe these folks are connected to seven loaves bread and if that's the case then disclosure they have done a lot of catering for my church, so they are good people. But I still couldn't pull the five star out because of the slightly dry pork. But you know that happens from time to time for barbecue so I'd definitely recommend this place even at full price. It's a little more sophisticated than your normal barbecue and sides and I really appreciate how well it works.

OMG they are slow, only ordered 2 pounds of brisket and 1 pound of pulled pork and I’ve been waiting 40 mins. I hope it’s good.Update: Brisket had no flavor and pork was dry.

I wanted to like this place so badly based on the reviews but, I was so disappointed with the food. Meat had zero smoke flavor, Brisket was dry, ribs and pulled pork were flavorless, sausage was sub par. 2 stars for the staff being super nice and then fried apple pie was decent. If you are looking for AMAZING Texas BBQ that everyone else raves about go to Hutchins in McKinney they got the magic there!

Wow! The smoke wagon is amazing. Great quality BBQ and great service. Keep up the great work Southern Drawl!

Best BBQ place! You seriously can’t go wrong with anything you order- make sure you add a side of street corn and a fried pie!
