Just had catering from Natty and the brisket was very very dry. The rolls tasted freezer burnt and were super dried out. Desserts were good, only reason its not 1 star....

On my way from Abilene to Dallas I was looking for a local barbecue spot. Natty Flat Smokehouse looked very promising.

The service was friendly. Basic counter service type of place.

The food…hmmm. I ordered a two meat plate with two sides; sliced brisket, jalapeño sausage, Mmac and cheese, and bbq beans. The brisket was dry. Too dry, so much so that it crumbled every time I attempted to pick some up with my fork. The sausage was very good. Mac and cheese was crazy salty and the beans tasted heavily of vinegar, very bitter.

Maybe it was an off day at the store but my experience was not the same as many of the positive reviews.

Interesting stop when im on my way to Stephensville. Pulled pork and chopped brisket are great. Wild variety of salsa and preserves to take home. Fried pies when I can get them, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Very rustic setting w individual building for furniture, food, and washroom. Always worth a visit.

Still Amazing After 20+ Years
I remember the day Natty Flat BBQ opened, and after 20+ years, the quality is just as great as it was back then. The BBQ is top-notch—always flavorful and perfectly cooked. The hot potato salad is a must, and the pickled green tomatoes are downright addicting. They also have a fun selection of drinks, old-fashioned candy, ice cream, and other desserts. It’s a place with charm, consistency, and seriously good food. Highly recommend!

The one thing I don't want to hear during the preparation of my food is a microwave. All of my food was ran through the microwave raising concern over food safety. I ate because I was starving and no other bbq place was open on my way home.

Turkey appears to be presliced and as a result came out dry and rubbery due to being microwaved. Sausage had good smokey flavor but was cold on the inside and Luke warm on the outside. Baked tater salad was sweaty on the top and cold in the middle, again from the microwave. Tea was very good and refreshing. Wasn't over brewed, didn't have any odd flavors and seemed freshly made.

I love the ambiance and looks of the restaurant, although I would prefer chairs with a back, lower back pain (nothing to do with the restaurant). Staff was friendly and was welcoming with a smile.

Unfortunately I don't see myself coming back to eat here primarily due to the cold food and use of the microwave.

Love natty flats food but the only thing about this time was my BBQ sandwich looked mauled and mashed. I still think they are the best BBQ place.

⭐️5 STARS ⭐️ Amazing food and atmosphere!

Place looks dirty inside. Brisket looked like pot roast, not smoke flavored. The thing they call potato salad was not cold nor hot, mildly warm. Beans were temperature hot with more “brisket” aka pot roast. Husband had ribs. Didn’t realize they were beef ribs when ordering. He attempted to eat them since they were costly. I’m not sure how anyone likes this place. We sure didn’t. Never to return.

We have been die hard Soulman BBQ lovers, especially the Forney location, and thought we'd never find a place we'd love more (and believe me while living in Kansas City for 4 years and now living in Granbury where there was no Soulmans, we really tried), and then we went to eat at Nutty Flats and were so happy to find the best Texas BBQ we've ever had!!! We grew up here so that's saying a lot. The brisket is thick cut and so tender and moist and you can taste the smoke. The sausage and pulled pork were great also. We haven't had their ribs yet... And all of the desserts were mouth watering. And the cherry on top is the great atmosphere and wonderful store next door. This is one of our favorite places and is worth the drive if you live in the DFW area!!
