Rgular trip. I came alone and joined family. OMG it is still the best smoked sausage in Texas! A must trip! Worth the drive.
Headed back from Gonzales we detoured to Luling just to try this place as it had good reviews. It is located in the historical section close to the railroad tracks and easy to find. They open at 10 am. This was our first time there and in Luling. Parking is on the street and there was none available in front so we parked a little down the street. When we entered we weren't sure of the set up so asked someone at the counter and they sent us to the back to order and pay for the meat of choice. They only serve brisket, sausage and pork ribs. The meat room is VERY small and they are in a hurry to move you in and out. The portions are served on butcher paper and it is charged by the amount you get. We got 4 ribs and 3 slices of brisket and that came to a little over $38. Then you pick a table or booth, if you are eating in, and then head to the front counter to order your sides and drinks. We ordered a large pinto beans for $4 and a large potato salad for $4 to share and ice tea. There are to dining room areas with booths and tables. The place was busy and a lot of people were getting food to go. We had more food than we needed or could eat. So since we are not heavy eaters, we could have done with smaller amounts such as two ribs, two slices of brisket and two small sides. All of the meat was tender and good and the sides were good as well. We wanted to try the banana pudding but were TOO FULL, but the reviews mentioned it being real good. Right at $50 for lunch at a quite rustic eatery.
Not worth the money, I got a pound of pork ribs for $23.00.Five little ribs. I think they need their scales calibrated. The guy that cut up the brisket, knocked off all the bark on five slices.

Fantastic sausage and brisket served on butcher paper. We drove 30 miles out of our way to eat here. We'll worth the trip.

This is great BBQ from an even better BBQ joint! My family has enjoyed this BBQ for more than 20 years. The whole place has atmosphere that gives honor to BBQ. The ceiling and walls are smoked, and so are the men who stand in the back room waiting to serve up your order on brown butcher paper. Ask for Alex, he'll take good care of you! My favorites are the ribs and sausage! My wife and daughters like the same and brisket, too. Add some fresh onion, pickles, pickled jalapenos and some crackers or bread, and you’ll be in heaven!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Luling City Market has the BEST BBQ in Texas—hands down! Every visit is an absolute treat. The brisket is perfectly smoked, tender, and packed with flavor, while the ribs are juicy and fall-off-the-bone amazing. The sausage is some of the best I’ve ever had, and their sides are equally delicious—don’t skip the beans or potato salad! The staff is super friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help you choose the perfect meal. The atmosphere is casual, fun, and full of Texas charm, making it a great spot to grab lunch or dinner with friends and family. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Luling City Market is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Texas BBQ. Every bite keeps me coming back—truly unbeatable!

We’ve been stopping at City Market for some time and it never disappoints. The brisket and sausages are top notch and our relatives in San Antonio are always happy when we show up with something fresh from City Market.

We drove 120 miles to eat at this fantastically authentic joint. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from meeting pit men to coming out smelling deeply or smoke. I have a theory that any food that arrives on a piece of paper must be good and it certainly helped true for this place.
