Me and family are new to the lytle area and glad to say we found a family favorite its kinda pricey .Not to much but the food is so worth it. you know how every restaurant has like one thing that they’re good at making and the other thing might not be so good. This place has not disappointed yet and almost everything that we’ve tried on the menu has been amazing. Appetizers and all only one thing i can say is sometimes its hot in there other then that its bombParking: Parking is kinda weird in the back on the side of the road

Keep going from this place. Waiting for our food forever & after others that arrived after us. Food fair. Waitress not in tune to what needed to be done. Then couldn’t find our order so had to tell them at register what we had after waiting there for someone to notice us. Then we got accused of trying to leave without paying when in fact we were in bathroom.!! Passing through from out of town. Should have kept driving!!

I find that a first impression of eating at a place is important. The staff is very friendly, and the food!!!! Wow. Tasty, delish, and definitely going back. This restaurant puts the flavor back in the food. I highly recommend giving this place a try! 2 thumbs up!

The appetizers where good. Had fried pickles spears, jalapeno poppers, and mozzarella sticks. The ranch was really good. Chicken fried steak has a good meat to breading ratio and was nicely seasoned. The Philly cheese steak was good. The macaroni and cheese was fresh hot and cheesey. Infact we ordered an extra serving of macaroni and cheese. The garlic mashed potatoes are bare except for a slab of butter. They were very bland and taste like instant out of a box. The roll is out of a bag and cold and very small. Reminds me of the KFC rolls. Out of 5 people only one of us would go back. The atmosphere is rustic and reminds me of an old time Mom and Pop Cafe.

Appetizers: we did the pick 3 (fried mushrooms, hot wings and mozzarella). The mushrooms were big and juicy (not dry at all). Hot wings were crispy and mozzarella sticks were fine, but nothing to write home about. The fried chicken sandwich was delicious - juicy chicken and the bun went really well with it. The fried cabbage had great flavor as well (I think aside from that, we’d order other sides next time after trying the other sides we had.)I think I was a little surprised the batter came off as soon as I started cutting into the chicken fried chicken (usually not a fan of gravy, but Railhead Cafe’s gravy was quite good!), but my son still really enjoyed it. And as for the steak, we’ll pass next time to try something else.It was nice to try Railhead Cafe on our road trip and good to know it’s quite close to the highway, so you can opt out of your usual fast food if you want something homier.

I have lived in South Texas most of my life and have eaten chicken fried steak at more places than I can count. The very best ever at the Railhead Cafe in Lytle. The meat was very tender, the crust was Crispy and well seasoned and the white gravy was smooth. All this and it came out of the kitchen fresh and hot.

Wow! I seriously confused if the place was open entering looked run down and darkLooks dusty, old & stickyFood was not great we all got 4 different plates didn’t taste fresh mostly all friedReally low budget food from the bacon to the ketchup on the counter.I’ve passed for years and avoided it bc everyone looks and acts non professional. Place needs inspection and closed down for good.

We enjoyed delicious American southern cookin', my wife had the Grilled fish plate, w/mashed potatoes & seasoned green beans. She ate 'til she hurt! I had the 8 oz. Chicken Froed Steak (yes, a real steak, not hamburger) hot & smothered in gravy! Sides were double battered O-rings (yum!), fried cabbage, & a soft yeast roll. I immediately ordered 3 more rolls to eat & share! Friendly staff, fresh savory food & reasonable prices! Handicap access is best thru the side door. The asphalt was a little rough, but passable for this wobbly, vision impaired fellow. We will be back!
