Food was good but a little disappointed that a plate of 2 tacos was $14 and didn't come with any rice or beans. I get that they are fillers but who in their right mind would order 4 small tacos for $30 to get full, in Texas, in basically a border town to Mexico?!?!? Was interested in trying the paella but didn't get a chance to. The queso and the pâtè toast were decent and not unreasonably priced.
This is a gem of a place. The pork/chicken taco and beef salad were perfectly done, but the kinilaw (which is a Tagalog word for pickled anything) is even better. I give it an "A' for outdoor seating and customer service. The menu is eclectic and unexpected but the food hits the spot.
Phenomenal! We stopped in for a quick bite and we were both blown away. I ordered the kinilaw which honestly was the best ceviche I’ve ever tasted. Typically it is served by itself but I ordered some tortilla chips which were served dusted with a tajin-type mix and sea salt. My partner ordered one of the rice plates (photographed) which had him silent from enjoyment during our meal. Decor was wonderful, a dreamy ambiance with the vines shading our table.
