I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this so-called “waterfront” restaurant in Matagorda was beyond disappointing. From the start, the staff showed complete incompetence. It took forever just for a waitress to even acknowledge our table, and when she finally did, the service was sluggish, careless, and unprofessional.
As someone who works in the restaurant business, I can confidently say this place is a textbook example of how not to run a dining establishment. The food was nothing more than over-fried, frozen garbage disguised as a menu. Absolutely no care, no freshness, and no pride in what they serve.
I strongly discourage anyone from wasting their time or money here. There are plenty of better options in Texas—don’t ruin your evening with this disaster of a restaurant.

For the number one spot in the area, I was very disappointed. The flounder (fresh catch) tasted old and was overcooked. The crab stuffing tasted like canned salmon- wouldn’t have guessed it was crab. 😕

This was a great place, we ate there twice just to try everything they had to offer, fresh seafood and Wonderful service, the view was pretty sweet as well. Hope to be back someday!
We don’t have a lot of restaurant choices in Matagorda, so we are especially lucky to have The Waterfront, which is consistent and good. Their seafood is always good and fresh, and their hamburgers, chicken fried steaks, and smothered hamburger steak are excellent as well. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the owner is usually always on site making sure things run smoothly.
