Such a cute place, service was awesome. After drinks were delivered complimentary fideo soup was served. We got stuffed avocado with tuna salad and chicken salad sandwich with chips and a pickle.

I visited Downtown Café in Mission on a Sunday around 12:30 PM with a coworker. The place was busy, but we were seated right away, which was a good start. Our waitress seemed new — she was friendly but unsure about basic menu details like what type of beans were served or which sides came with which dishes. That wasn’t a big deal, but things went downhill from there.
It took about 30 minutes for a simple taco plate to come out, which felt excessive even for a “not fast food, but great food” establishment. To make matters worse, my coworker’s order was accidentally delivered to another table, and that table actually ate it without saying anything. The manager came by to explain the mix-up, but by that point our lunch break was over, and my coworker never got to eat.
What was disappointing was the lack of any gesture to make things right — no offer to remake the meal to-go, provide a discount, or offer a small gift card for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds matters.
The food may be good, but our experience wasn’t. I might give it another try when it’s less busy, but hopefully next time, the service and management are a bit more attentive to the customer experience.

Downtown Café is a true gem in Mission! The food is fresh, flavorful, and served with such care. From the first bite to the last, everything tasted homemade and full of love. The staff is warm and welcoming, making you feel like family the moment you walk in.The atmosphere has that perfect small-town charm while still feeling modern and inviting. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast, lunch, or just coffee with friends, this spot never disappoints. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area!

I used to come to this every weekend with my family for breakfast cause the place was cute, affordable and good quality food. However recently I went and the chilaquiles soggy, it wasn’t a problem. It was the first time ever I had asked them to please remake them and the waitress went to go and get them done again. It was at the front checkout when I had to pay. The owner came and tried to charge me for both plates, even though I didn’t touch the first plate. I refused to pay for that plate and the owner came from behind the register and got in my face and literally threatened me never to come back to order food. I was absolutely astonished by what she did. Not once did I scream or raise my voice at her. People were watching and leaving because of how she acted towards me. Not once have I ever sent food back or even refused to tip but instances like this make me scared of even attempting to do so again. Was I in the wrong? Should have I had just paid for and avoided problems? I just want to make people aware of what type of person they are supporting.

Took a half hour and several inquiries to get the ‘waitress’ to actually come to our table to take our orders. Another half hour to receive our food, BREAKFAST! Non-Hispanics CLEARLY not welcome here.Needless to say we will NOT Abe returning. Avoid this place at any cost!

Went to go eat and it took long they didn’t have green pasta for the cordon bleu and then I got the meatloaf it was cold… didn’t like the food, the mash potatoes were not homemade it seemed like they were the microwaveable mash potatoes

So I found this nice and cozy Mexican restaurant in downtown Mission. I ordered the chilaquiles and a coffee. They came out great. Whoever makes the sauce needs a raise lol (just kidding). It tasted just like my mother used to make it. The flour tortillas were good too and the coffee was great too. It wasn't expensive at all for what I ate. Good job Downtown Cafe. I'll see you again soon. 100% in excellence!

Food is delicious. I ordered a a papa and egg taco and a papa con chorizo ala mexicana and they were both so delicious. The atmosphere is like going to your grandparents house filled with little knickknacks. I felt comfortable going in. Everyone is to attentive to you. Offering more coffee or water or condiments. If I’m in the area again I will most definitely be coming back. Just park in the back.

We went to Downtown Cafe for breakfast. My wife ordered huevos rancheros and I ordered the chilaquiles. Both dishes were excellent. Our server was Cindy and she was wonderful. Highly recommend this great little spot that is tastefully decorated and provides awesome dishes.

The Chile Relleno is delicious, and the portions are generous. The salsas could use a little more spice. The staff is so friendly! Very accommodating to children everyone working was so sweet.
