Old Hickory Inn Barbecue

First time visiting, I'll always get the three meat dinner. The brisket was very disappointing, flavorless, no spices,nor smoke, and was steamed before before being smoked. The ribs were good at the highest point. The chicken was decent with a little heavy on the mop sauce. The beans were mushy and little flavor. The potato salad has potential. The toast was the highlight of the meal because I asked for extra butter.
It's midday on a Saturday and the front parking lot is empty...that was the first hint that I ignored.

This place thoroughly surprised me! Upon ordering the worker was SO kind. When he gave me my food he told me he gave me multiple gravies and sauces so I can have options of what I’d like. He packaged me some pickles himself and was just so kind. The food was great!! I ordered the riblets bbq dinner plate with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. The riblets were so good and he gave me some sort of sweet jalapeño sauce that was SO GOOD. My only thing is I wish the Mac n cheese was less runny and baked but other than that I loved everything and I’ll definitely be back!!

Did I come here expecting it to taste better than the BBQ from my own smoker? No.
Did I come here because it’s 100 degrees out and I’m not about to fire up my smoker in this heat? Absolutely.

Great place to visit for a reasonable price, and I’ll definitely be back. I really enjoyed the smoked chicken—juicy, tender, and nicely seasoned.

I had a great lunch at this place! The ribs were delicious, and the salad was really tasty - it had brisket in it! I couldn’t finish my ribs, but the salad was so filling. The ribs were well-seasoned, and I didn’t even need to dip the few I ate in BBQ sauce.

This place is garbage. All the staff are either rude or unfriendly. It's nothing like how it was 30 years ago.

As a family who is picky about their Texas BBQ, Old Hickory Inn is fantastic. The brisket and ribs were great as was our sides.

We even took an order to go!

Definitely on our list for returning!

My new BBQ joint. Honestly I’ve ate all over Texas and Old Hickory Inn seasoning game is second to none. All I can say is best BBQ in Texas!

Honestly, their potatoes are delicious! I noticed one time I asked for chicken and I got it cubed (nice). One time, I asked for chicken and it was shredded? I asked for pecan pie one time and they were out.... They were out for most of the pies. I asked for rice pudding (love rice pudding) since I saw the big scoop of rice pudding in the picture but what I got was... A rice watery soup-y almost like chowder. It was disgusting! I didn't eat and I felt bad asking for a refund. Months later I asked for Mac and cheese (no one can mess this one up) as a side and I got this.... Pasta with yellow milk water. No flavor at all. I asked my friends what they thought about it and they asked me if I got some cheese pasta soup, with no flavor! I told them I got Mac and cheese. I didn't ask for a refund... That was on me. So yeah, potatoes are awesome! But stay away from the rice pudding drink and the Mac and cheese soup. 🤮
