The food, here, is good. The wait staff are attentive. However, if placing a to go order with any modifications to the entree, it just doesn’t happen. You’re encouraged to order online for “better accuracy” but that doesn’t work either. When calling, the person taking the order acknowledges special instructions but the order comes out exactly as in the menu. I can’t help but think the kitchen staff ignore the modifications. It’s disappointing because I’ve have wait staff make recommendations on how to make the entree better. Works for dine in but not take out.

The atmosphere is nice, just what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant with colorful decor. The food, on the other hand, is just ok. The fajitas didn't have much flavor.. The beans and rice were ok. The Patron margarita was good, except the fact that they try to give you more ice than anything. Be sure to tell them to take it easy on the ice so that you get your money's worth! They do have free ice cream. However, the ice cream wasn't the best. Overall, I probably wouldn't return. Not for the price or taste.

Spending much of my life in regions where authentic Mexican food is readily available, I realize that not everyone shares the same perspective on what constitutes good Mexican food. I would classify this restaurant as one that aspires to be a “Mexican Restaurant” (quotes intended), but without sourcing traditional ingredients or training chefs in authentic Mexican cuisine. Chili heat is a cornerstone of Mexican dishes and salsas—not just for spiciness, but for the depth and complexity of flavor it adds. The absence of any heat in the salsa (or any of the dishes our group tried) diminished the authenticity and flavor balance. (I asked for a side of sliced jalapeños, which helped.)

With the exception of the excellent thin, crispy tortilla chips, we didn’t sense anything Mexican about the meal. Worse than the sub-par seasoning was the untraditional (almost laughable) construction of my enchilada. My first bite consisted only of uncooked flour tortilla with no filling. Curious, I unrolled it to find a scant tablespoon of unmelted cheese (Monterey Jack, I think) piled in the center. If ever I should have taken a photo of my meal, it was this—almost unbelievable. Picture a flour tortilla with about a tablespoon of unmelted cheese in the center. That’s it. And that is not an enchilada.

I sent it back and ordered the chicken fajita bowl, which was a bowl of rice topped with chopped chicken and a good amount of melted cheese. While it was satiating, there was nothing about it that resembled fajitas. Unsurprisingly, it lacked flavor. Our server was very attentive, although he couldn’t answer when I asked if the construction of the enchilada was standard at the Jalapeño Tree.

There are many positive reviews for this chain, and if folks enjoy the food, that’s great for them. However, I would not classify this restaurant as Mexican.

Not only did I have to wait 10 mins at the pickup window until someone noticed me, I tried to call to let them know I was at the window and no one answered. So by the time they came to the window I was so unbelievably mad that when they handed me "my" food I was just ready to get out if there. To top it off when I got home 16 miles away, they gave me someone else's order. This is the second time I've had crappy service but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt on this visit BUT THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE! THIS PLACE HAS HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Came here to have lunch, it took them about 15 minutes before they even took my order for my drink. After that it took about 20 min for them to take my food order and I didn’t get my food, for about another 45 minutes. Two family’s that were caucasian came in way after me and my family and were served their food way before use shaking my head. I decided to just pay for my drinks and not even get the food, I will never go to this place again.

Food was hot and fresh. Restaurant was clean. Our server, Brenda, was impeccable. Checked on us often and was so polite and friendly. Great experience.

Vegetarian options: Steamed veggies were amazing and so was the sautéed version.

Disappointed. The chicken looks manufactured and like it was just heated up. The vegetables were not sautéed. 👎

I should know better by now. These types of places are not authentic Mexican food. I had quesadillas with combination beef/chicken. The meat was skimpy, squared, and no real flavor to it. My guess is it was probably frozen fajitas not actually cooked fresh. Salsa was definitely not authentic. My waitress was extremely nice. The place is comfortable, but food is a miss. I come once or twice a month to this area, and I definitely won't be back. If you can ruin a quesadilla, then I wouldn't dare try anything else. Also, $30 dollars for one was definitely not worth the price. No drink, just water, a cup of queso almost $9 is ridiculous

Had to ask repeatedly for our guacamole, which had no flavor, and dry if you can make guacamole dry. Food did not taste good. Even the free ice cream was nasty tasting.
