Ok, the only reason the camp is getting a one-star is because the 3 out of the 5 camp leaders were TRANSGENDER and the beds for our school trip were like 60 years old for gosh sake please buy new beds.
Attend annually a craft/ art weekend. Terrific food, fellowship and surroundings.
Great venue for corporate events! Excellent classroom and conference settings, lodging, and meals.
"God is Good, all the time & all the time God is Good." Damn I went on church retreats here, but still "chose" to keep living in sin, like a stupid idiot ??
my child’s camp experience was not one i am happy to share and she will not be returning to camp allen. i share to provide a cautionary tale to anyone else who is looking for a safe place to call your child’s summer camp.
my daughter unfortunately got sick on day 5 of the camp and the nurse called me with ZERO information about the issue, couldn’t accurately describe her illness and poorly documented a fever, which allegedly spiked from 101 back down to 98 within the span of an hour. the nurse was insistent we pick her up and sounded completely urgent about it so we go at 11:30 at night despite the fever going back down and claiming that my child is perhaps allergic to snakes in a later call after her dad already began the hour long drive to get her…?she’s never had allergies of any kind and i believe this was an example of her failure to properly obtain information about the situation leading up to the illness. i couldn’t then turn and extend care to a physician if my child needed it because i had absolute no idea what actually happened.
the staff of course then had to pack her items and didn’t allow anyone to help identify her things, and we returned with over $100 in belongings just lost- including water bottle, two pairs of shoes (literally only came back with the ones she had on her feet), and her socks and underwear.. the underwear is concerning in itself because all of her clothing was contained in a laundry bag we provided per the camp list. the communication is extremely poor and the mistrust and mishandling of a situation such as that when looking after children isn’t acceptable to me. they are extremely disorganized and i understand it’s a carefree and fun environment but there’s no trust in this after the situation we experienced. even after the nurse said she could stay another night at camp and be picked up in the morning (later phone call after the fever went down) we chose not to because they clearly showed no interest in handling the situation appropriately. no assistance was provided following, other than an online lost and found form to no where, and the communication from leadership remained dismissive and unsatisfactory. save your $ from this place and choose another camp for your child. i understand that illnesses happen but in the event that something happens to your child you should be able to trust that the adults that you entrust to care for them are reliable and honest. i don’t feel that is true for the staff and leadership of camp allen.
Great summer camp experience for 3rd thru 10th graders with opportunities for older kids to serve as counselors in training. Positive values and energy, high staff to camper ratio, community forming adventures!
Fantastic people, fantastic food. Excellent stay. Recommend it to everyone!

I had a great time here. I attended the men’s retreat hosted here. The atmosphere was quiet and clean with opportunities to do so many activities. It a good place to come and get away from the city life. I’ll definitely recommend and come back again.
It was such a pleasant surprise to return to my childhood camp for a retreat which I attended last year. It was even more beautiful and serene than I remember. The camp is clean and the cabins are very well kept. The bathrooms were also very nice as well. The food was good too! The staff was so friendly and it made me want to return again soon!
A beautiful place full of nature, perfect for a retreat, team building, etc.
I worked at camp Allen last summer, and my child attended summer camp. We both had an amazing experience, we didn’t want to leave! So much fun stuff for the kiddos to do and safety is priority as well. Food was awesome and the people were so friendly and helpful. The counselors made sure all the kids had a great time, they are the best!
We have been coming here for retreats multiple years. Food is great (improved this year) and they have recently upgraded some of the mattresses. Staff is wonderful, very clean, peaceful and very close to nature. We will be back.
