Found this little gem on a roadtrip and it was well worth driving a few extra miles! The Hootieburger did not disappoint!! Great friendly service!
W had group of 40 and they took very good care of us. The chicken fried chicken was delish!! The fried okra was a little overcooked, but not bad.

Absolutely love their breakfast, even though it is only served on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Good lunches too. Pure southern comfort food!

I eat here all the time. Everything is so delicious. They give you a huge slice of strawberry cake which is delicious. Today they brought my order to the car, I was so so grateful. Y'all I love this place.

First let me say the restaurant itself, the contents of the menu and the friendliness of the staff are absolutely five star rated. It is from there that the rating loses ground.
The widely acclaimed Hootieburger is huge with fresh veggies and is cooked to order. Unfortunately the meat has been marinated which adds a vicious and undesired flavor, detracting from the fire broiled taste. The marinade flavor was so strong and loaded with salt that we could not finish our meals. I suggest you ask if they have non-marinated meat or order something else. It was bad.
The prices shown online, even in the photos posted by the owner, are outdated. The menus you are given have a “sticker” indicating that the true prices are higher. Ask for the current prices and the waitress can look them up for you, one at a time. Take a pad of paper and pencil with you to simplify making your selection.
The red, plastic drink cups had mottled rims, indicative of a lot of use and rough handling. They don’t look dangerous to use but they indicate the owners are not interested in replacing the damaged cups anytime soon.
The ceiling is open, revealing the sprayed-on insulation. It gives the place a “construction site” feel.
The cook does not wear gloves. The assistant cook also does sweeping the floor chores. Strange work assignments.
The big screen television played a show where folks from Africa were killing poor, defenseless animals. It did not help to stimulate my appetite.
My thought is definitely try this restaurant. Food is good, generally and the prices (final) are not bad. The place is clean and the waitstaff are ultra friendly.
Parking: Parking is immediately adjacent to the public road. You are “right there”. Be careful.

We had my sons SHSU geaduation dinner here in the banquet room. Cary was more than accommodating! He worked with us on everything even to letting us order our buffet from off the menu. We had chicken and beef fajitas and a nacho bar with all the “fixins”. The food was great and more than enough for our party of 25. They furnished everything we needed and more. He alllowed us to come in much earlier to decorate and set up our cake table. We will recommend Murskis to anyone looking for a place to have a large gathering. Cary and his staff it allowed us to have a great worry free get together. Over all it was great & we totally recommend!
What a great hometown breakfast just off the beaten path. Friendly, very courteous service. Tasty, hearty meal the way breakfast used to be—real ingredients. Excellent prices. We’ll be back!
I had a Hootieburger today for the first time in almost 25 years. It is just like I remember. I also introduced my daughter who is a freshman at Sam Houston. She loved it, too.
Great southern comfort food. I had the chicken fried steak. It was really good, the breading stuck well to the meat. It was seasoned well. And the cream gravy was out of this world good. I give the food a 7.5/10. Definitely would recommend going here for the lunch portion specials.

Working up this way for the day and tried to get in last Friday, 3/1/24, but there wasn't any parking available which says something. Made it in today and was not disappointed. Got the chicken fried steak w/ mashed potatoes and fried okra. Whomever they have frying up stuff in back knows how it's done correctly because everything came out perfect. The young lady that waited on us was super friendly as well. Overall, a great place with great food and a great atmosphere.
