The service was good, Katie was very attentive and other staff checked on us as well. Dirty rice was not dorty or spicy. The pinto beans were no fully cooked. My fish was not very fresh by temperature. Stuffed crab and shrimp were hot. Green beans were fresh and seasoned well. Mom's fish was hot and fresh. First time visit while in town seeing family.

This place definitely goes unnoticed for the experience. I myself am guilty of judging a book by it's character. I attended a meeting at Big Daddys. When I arrived at the location I thought it was a mistake. I judged the outside location of this restaurant without ever stepping foot in it. If it wasn't for that meeting I would've never known what I was missing out on. I heard from customers while inside the establishment how some have been coming to Bid Daddys since they were kids. I heard another ordering three dozen hush puppies to go and this is after their meal. I couldn't stay long enough to eat. I did go back with the husband and folks this place is one of them places that you remember being in as a kid.. it gives such a welcoming atmosphere. The staff not only very polite.. but you can see they love this place . When you see that people working somewhere are connected it's no longer just a job they're family. The Food was absolutely amazing...I ate more then my Share of banana pudding... guys it wasn't like they threw that together...it honestly reminded me of my grandmother's. If you haven't been here you should .... even if it's to have a beer with some friends at the bar area..I spent a good 30 min just walking around looking at all the timeless pieces on the walls. These guys are definitely go unnoticed. If you support small businesses and definitely ones that have been holding on 30 years+ you owe it to yourself to give them a gander.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair ramp is located directly infront of big daddys

OVERALL In search of something other than another Mexican restaurant or a chain in Odessa, TX, my fiancé who used to live there suggested Big Daddy's Grill & Bar. (I don't know who put it in as "Big Daddy's Catfish & Chicken" in Yelp, but I have photos to prove that otherwise.) RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 5 | Price: 4 PARKING Ample free parking in a plaza lot. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This restaurant looks rather unassuming from 42nd Street. It seems like a hole-in-the-wall within a strip mall, yet, when I walked in it was buzzing with many Good Friday customers. A giant catfish sculpture adorned in a chef's outfit greeted folks at the entrance. One side is for diners while the left side is for takeout orders for pickup. I really wanted to dine in, but my kiddos weren't all that hungry so I ate on the road. THE GRUB I opted for the small catfish platter ($14.48 with my card). It came with about 5 fillets of flaky white catfish, a few hush puppies (rod-shaped), and my choice of mashed potatoes with cream gravy and fried okra. The tartar sauce was good, but I wish I had asked for a second cup. Served hot & fresh. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB On the kid's menu was the following: catfish fillets, chicken strips, charbroiled drumsticks, mini corndogs, steak fingers, & popcorn shrimp. One veggie side and a small drink were included with meals running between $6-10. SERVICE Wonderful, fast service on March 29, 2024, from a pleasant young lady at the takeout counter. She originally told me it would be about a 30-minute wait. That turned into 5 minutes. Lol. MY FAVORITE PART... The catfish & tartar sauce! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... How far away I live from this place. Also, I was not told that a non-cash fee ($.42) would be assessed nor did I see any signage indicating this. TIP + They also serve beer & wine. This review was no joke, but Happy April Fool's Day nonetheless!

Genuine feedback: I hope my honesty won't result in being barred from sharing my experience. Upon visiting this establishment, my initial expectations weren't met. With a background rooted in a rich seafood culture, I anticipated a culinary journey that resonated with my upbringing. However, what I encountered fell short. While the fried fish was commendable, boasting a crisp exterior and tender interior, the other offerings left much to be desired. The shrimp, unfortunately, lacked the texture and succulence one expects, being flattened and melded with the batter. This resulted in a uniform consistency reminiscent of a hamburger patty, rather than the distinct bite of fresh shrimp. Moreover, the oysters were overshadowed by an excessive coating of batter, diminishing their delicate flavor and rendering them almost unrecognizable amidst the breadcrumbs. On a brighter note, the hush puppies offered a unique take on the classic, and the green beans and mushrooms were a delightful surprise, showcasing culinary skill and attention to detail. In terms of service, I must commend the staff for their exemplary customer care, particularly during peak hours when wait times were inevitable. However, despite the warm welcome and efficient service, the overall dining experience left much to be desired. In essence, this establishment felt akin to a larger-scale version of Long John Silver's, catering more to family-oriented dining than to those seeking an authentic seafood experience. The discrepancy between the inviting interior and the mismatched exterior was particularly notable, giving off a misleading impression to passersby. While the food quality leaned towards the commercial end of the spectrum, I remain open-minded and willing to revisit in the future, in the hopes of experiencing an improvement in both culinary execution and overall ambiance.

Went for 3 salads to go and they said it would be 10 mins like thats is a long time for salads, and after 30 mins they said they only had enough sauce for 1. Told them i wanted a refund and got it, but they kept trying to pressure me into getting something else I didn’t want!

For a catfish place they really dropped the ball. All of our catfish was overcooked, it felt like eating national lampoons Christmas turkey that's hard on the outside and nothing on the inside. My guess is they prepare a bunch and let it sit under a warmer for hours and hours.
