Great tradition Mexican Food with a a shot of homemade hot sauce. Nothing beats the Mexican Plate unless you ask for it sloppy.

If you are close to this place in the middle of no where South Texas, stop in Oilman, TX at Lala’s. It’s a bucket list kinda old divey place. All the food is prepared few hours before service. Everything was delicious, no frills, no fancy stuff. Great homemade food especially the Mexican food, salsa, hamburgers.

I ate here a couple if times in 1979 when I was working as a field geophysicist south of Mirando City. We would drive out from Laredo for dinner. The food and service was fantastic back then.

Recommended dishes: Enchiladas
I was expecting something spectacular after hearing so many rave reviews from others. The enchilada sauce was watered down. The crispy tacos must have been fried in oil that wasn't hot enough because it took forever to get the grease off my lips. The taco did have a generous amount of meat. I don't plan on going back.

The food knocks it out of the park. Easily the best tacos ? I've ever had. The cafe has been there for about 70 years and is a South Texas institution. It's just a little shack, so don't expect a fancy restaurant. Highly recommend.

Next level spot
I went on June 14,2023 the place itself looked very dirty from inside. Limited parking space. The menu doesn’t have pictures. It’s just words on a wall. Restroom was a 2/5 it didn’t have soap to wash your hands. Doesn’t have variety of drinks/salsa. Waitress would barely even answer the questions about the menu she kept saying it’s over there. Over priced food for what it was. They don’t accept visa but do accept cash app. Therefore, they should have at least a sign stating they don’t accept visa what if the day I went I didn’t have cash or cash app? I don’t understand the hype of peoples comments for this restaurant.

Lala's serves the most delicious Mexican food. I have been eating at Lala's for over 40 years. No other Mexican restaurant can come close. The corn tortillas are homemade. The tacos are puffy. They are light, perfectly fried and not thick with too much masa. They are not soggy nor fall apart when eating. The chalupa is perfect. I love every dish served at Lala's. Lala's is located in Miranda City, TX. It's a very small community of about 366 residents. Their customers drive from other cities just to eat this fabulous food.
