This place has been around since before I was born. My mother worked there and met my dad there. Yes, I’m here because of a sandwich.
I left Arlington shortly before my dad passed so I hadn’t had one of the infamous bombers in, I don’t know? 13yrs?
I can understand why they survived Covid. Walking in was straight nostalgia! Everything from the decor, the watch your step sign and even the smell. The only difference is the window art. It’s no longer the two men eating a large sub, but it’s more modern for today.
The ladies were so friendly! I enjoyed our chit chat! Even got a bonus visit from a tuxedo cat at the front.
The sandwich was exactly how I remembered it. Bomber supreme on Italian, no onion, no tomato, extra pickle relish, oil and seasoning. I felt like a kid again, reliving memories. It won’t be 13yrs before I scratch that itch now!
I can’t thank them enough. It really is a hidden gem in Arlington.
Support small business!

Don’t leave Arlington without getting a sub!! Best roast beef sandwich in the world!! The signature oil was so delicious and it genuinely was one of the best foot long subs I’ve had!! The owner also was so sweet and she gave me a to-go potato salad on the house since it was my first time going!! The atmosphere is welcoming and has lots of cool military history in the building. Don’t miss out on tasting these delicious sub sandwiches!!! Best ever!!

first time here today! the ladies at the front desk were very friendly- i told them i hadn’t been there before and they recommended a yummy sub (bomber supreme). very filling & generous with meats/veggies. higher priced than i’d expected (that’s everywhere now tho) suffice it say, i happily support small businesses & will definitely come back, when i’m in the area.

It pains me to have even thought of leaving a not so good review. After 50 great years of top notch sub sandwiches here my last 3 visits in 11 months have turned me away. 11 months ago while working remodeling 25 miles away my daughter bought subs for everyone . 4 out of 8 were wrong. The receipt showed correctly but did not match up with sandwiches. Mine had cheese which I despise. After regurgitating I called them and they got an attitude. So I ate grapes for my meal. The second time a month ago. Again my order came to me wrong. I Ordered a bomber with meatball. All i got was meatball but charged for the works..I never send food back just bcus of sneeze muffins..lol.. I don't want one.. but last week. My bomber with meatball was made correctly but served on refrigerator cold Italian bread???? In 50 something years it's never been cold. It cooled down the meatballs sauce and this sandwich was not enjoyable at all. Besides the little innuendos I get when I visit the store. I feel as though they have something personal against me. And if a place makes me feel that way then it's game over.. it was a good run Bomber.. but I'm done...adios
I tried to go at least once every two weeks and get my bomber. The owner is always so nice and the staff is super friendly professional and always on their game. When you walk in and you feel that overwhelming sense of patriotism. So if you're looking for an amazing sandwich though no other place other than Joe Ed bombers
Fantastic hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop.. family owned. Don't blink or you'll miss it.
Best place to go for a sandwich! They also have the best German potato salad!
I had my very first experience about a week ago at Jo-Ed's and the two young girls working the counter were very polite and helpful. They knew it was my family's first time and gave us a run-through of the menu. My husband and I ordered two different subs - the Bomber Supreme and the Chicken Salad. Both were excellent. We also tried the German potato salad and that was also amazingly good. I do like that it was not mayo based.
However, my second experience was over the phone and the short attitude that was given was enough for me to think twice if I want to come back. I've never heard such a quick scoff on the phone for just a simple question, especially since I'm not a regular customer and was hoping to be. We shall see.
