I just moved from south pecos, so this lodge has some shortcomings, there are not wardrobe or closet in the room to store clothes and luggage, there is no table and chair in the room for a computer, and there is not enough food in the kitchen. They don't have shake grill..... The possitive things, their staff like pillows, Towels, bed sheets are new and pretty clean.
Despite having an exceptional hotel in the Best Western Swiss Chalet, Pecos offers few desirable dining options. After reading the rave reviews of Permian Cafe on TripAdvisor, we made a point to find it (not easy) and went in with the intention of enjoying a great dinner there. We were surprised to see that it resembled a mess hall or dorm cafeteria rather than a restaurant -- no ambiance whatsoever. This place was so worth going to! Talk about value for your money! This is where the oil field workers eat but it's open to the public. It's a bit challenging to find only because the building this is in is not identified as anything. You eat what's on the menu for that meal, but the selection and variety is very good. The amount of food you get is astonishing. Would definitely recommend!
