La Iguana is a comfortable homestyle Mexican restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The staff is friendly and courteous, providing good service overall. The chips are great, and the Carne Guisada could use improvement in tenderness and size. The cheese enchilada plate with homemade corn tortillas is a highlight, with every bite being delicious. The restaurant is clean, and the smells of the Mexican cuisine enhance the dining experience. It is a nice quiet and cozy place with GREAT food and excellent service. The waitress is fantastic, and the amount of food for the price is impressive. The fajitas burrito is huge, filled with lots of chili and cheese. The homemade chips and salsa are outstanding, and the fajitas are the most tender and flavorful ever. The breakfast tacos are also a hit, with thin tortillas and a good balance of beans, eggs, and cheese, complemented by spicy, flavorful hot sauce. While there may have been a minor hiccup with abrupt service from one staff member, overall, La Iguana offers a welcoming and enjoyable experience, standing out as superior to other taquerias in South Texas.
