The food is terrible. I wouldn’t go back.

The food isn’t great. The staff is sweet but it’s sad how the Owner berates them. I wouldn’t go here and I wouldn’t suggest anyone work here.. This man will cuss them up and down, screaming at them and I have texts to prove it..

We love this place! The food is really good and the drinks and service are exceptional. Try the Cuban—soooo good.

Another fantastic lunch. The server is well versed in the menu and explained the food and his favorites. The food was delicious. Cadence of food coming out to accommodate our large party was on point. Thank you for a great lunch!

My favorite spot in Rockwall. I love the cheese board with the honeycomb. Always pairs nicely with their wines. I haven't tried a dish here that wasn't delicious. My go to is the shrimp and grits.

Amazing food and atmosphere! I got the Chicken Tom Yum soup and Muffelleta sammich. Jordan was awesome with the drink menu, flavor profiles, and makes a good ole fashion!

A while back I won a gift certificate for a cheese board and champagne at this adorable romantic restaurant right in the heart of downtown Rockwall. Today was the day I actually got to try it with my guy and let me tell you I was very impressed! The ambience the food the service such a wonderful experience. We went in just before 3 pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately! It was too hot for us today to try out the patio but it looked charming as well. This will definitely go on our list for return in the future! Tried The Downing for the first time today. I’m incredibly impressed with my entire experience. Wow! I had the Spicy Beef sandwich. It was HUGE and SO GOOD!! Service was above and beyond! Highly recommend!!!

I wandered in here on a Sunday evening and so glad I did. I had already eaten but the aroma of fresh herbed focaccia bread was irresistible. Lily welcomed me into their back room.. the cocktail lounge. Very laid back and relaxed. Good soft music, comfortable booths. And their zataar hummus was some of the BEST I’ve had. I felt tucked away in a hidden gem, far away from the urban world.

So warm and welcoming. First class. Love every bit of all of it.

Our very awkward conversation with the hostess was our first impression of this place.
- “how can I help you?”
+ “umm… (I was so confused, no one has asked me this when entering a restaurant) we would like to get some lunch..?”
- ok…
*awkward silence*
- “we have barstools”
+ “ok?”
- “we have a dining area in the back”
(There’s a few tables right when you enter but they were all empty)
+ “did we enter through the wrong door?”
- “no, this is the main door”
+ “ok… can we get a table?”
Anyways we were finally seated, it wasn’t just me, me husband agreed that it was weird lol.
The food was ok, I got the gyro and it was a huge portion but slightly salty.
My husband got the Cuban sandwich, it didn’t have a lot of filling.
We weren’t offered dessert.

We always feel welcomed and well taken care of here. We joined the wine club and loved getting to join a private tasting. The food is always amazing and the wine is too notch. Highly recommend!
