The food quality has gone down tremendously since new ownership. I used to eat at Trvino all the time they had the best refried beans in the world and now they’re not good at all and their sauces don’t taste the same and you need to go back to the original recipes that the Trevino had.

Trevino's makes Mexican food like I remember from my childhood in San Antonio. Not sure what they do to the beef in their tacos but it's the way a taco is supposed to taste! Same with their cheese enchiladas - simple perfection 😋And you can't beat their all day happy hour margaritas.

Figured it looked like a cool spot so I figured why not give it a shot. But I’m honestly confused at the quality of food here for the price we paid. I feel like I just had reheated left over food.
I’m not sure how you can mess up fajitas. Especially the “steak” fajita, the meat looked like it was cooked under hot running water. And the taste was even worse - went straight to the garbage. The rice had zero flavor, and the presentation along with the portion size was very disappointing.
Will not be ordering from here again and certainly wouldn’t recommend.

The food and sauces tasted very pre-made/frozen, not to mention that the price was high for the quality of the food.
Service was good, and the atmosphere was fine, yet the food made it an unpleasant experience.

Food was bland, no flavor. The chips sauce is basically cans of tomatoes blended. Will never come back. And the tea/lemonade had what looked like dirt (I’m sure it was tea) on the bottom of the glass.

If you wanna pay a lot for some tv dinner style food lol. Go ahead. The is the most mid and basic texmex. Even when the other owners had in further down the street wasn’t good. This one is even worse. Flavors sucks. Your like bland food. Go there and be like Oscar the grouch and eat out of a dumpster

Taco bell food
I have been to this establishment nearly 5 times in total. Like the atmosphere, and they happened to be playing 1980's classic rock music from bands like Rush, Boston, Van Halen, Foreigner, and Journey. There is a decorative, and cheerful horse statue hanging from the ceiling, like what El Chico restaurants might still have as part of their decorum. The food is very well made, very tasty, and at a reasonable price, and made from scratch fresh every day. The building the restaurant is in is probably 100 years old or more, making it very historically significant. Makes me wonder if the streets outside the building once had gas lamps along with the unpaved road back in the days this building location was newly built. This is beside the point, but I am fascinated about history. Trevinos is definately a Mexican food favorite of mine.
The service was amazing! Justina was the sweetest, I’ve now adopted her as my niece; come visit! 💖
Neighbors had recommended Trevinos to me knowing I like Mexican food. Unfortunately I was so underwhelmed by my visit here. Came here on a weekend for lunch. The atmosphere and decor is meh, the food is ok, service was friendly. Definitely prefer their neighbor Casa Mama for the ambiance food and service. It’s no comparison
