I had been going here for a while. The food and service went down the drain all of a sudden. I started getting hair in my food, undercooked food, etc.

We’ve been to this location more than once and food is always good because I love Waffle House, and service was never a big issue, but family was discriminated this week on 1/16. My husband, 2 year old daughter, and my 8 month pregnant self came to this location in search of some good breakfast as usual. Albeit it was during the cold freeze, we decided to venture off near our neighborhood to see if we could find something reliable to eat that was open. We were so glad Waffle House was open, but greatly disappointed in the service that day. The place was a lot emptier than usual due to the weather I’m assuming, but when we came in no one greeted us or acknowledged us. We didn’t think much of it at first since they don’t always have a host. We sat ourselves and prepared our table which is fine because I don’t expect Waffle House to be fine dining. Again, I’ve known my fair share of Waffle House experiences. We then waited and looked around to see if anyone could give us a menu. I looked at the server line to see if anyone would notice we’ve already sat down for a few minutes and I got look backs from this one female server nearest to us that only gave us stern look backs but never once spoke up and said “I’ll be right with you”. Instead, she just kept serving a table of 4 white men and repeatedly return to their table 4-5 times while we are sitting like deer in headlights just waiting for a menu. They used to put menus on the table, but I didn’t understand why she couldn’t just take one second of a trip to bring over a menu for us as she goes and attends to her other tables. Isn’t that just normal food service practice to just acknowledge the customers that sit down and give them a menu? After a few awkward minutes of wondering why we weren’t acknowledged in a fairly slow overall service that day (there were only 5 other tables), I finally looked over the counter and saw a menu right next to us so I just wanted to grab it myself to get things going for my family because we have a 2 year old and anyone with small kids know we don’t have the luxury of maxing and relaxing. The moment I tried to grab the menu, I get a very defensive “Ma’am, you’re going to have to hold on a minute. I’ll be with you but you’re going to have to wait while I serve these people”. I guess we’re not considered people? She finally comes over after tending to that table of white men 2-3 more times and then instead of apologizing for any wait, decides to lecture us in the words of “you’re going to have to wait, we only have two people working, I’m only one person, I told you to wait”. I said “but all we needed was a menu first so we could figure out what to order while we wait” and I still get the excuses of “well we were really busy” (only 5 tables among 2 servers) and just constant tension and attitude. By that time once she unhappily gave us the menus and silverware, didn’t even get our drink order and walked away, my pregnant self was so upset, I unfortunately told my family to leave because we can’t patron a place that makes us feel like crap. I’ve never been treated like that at a restaurant establishment before nor understood the hostility other than the feeling that we just didn’t fit the bill of being treated equally that day. It’s a shame because my family loves eating there, but the way we were treated was truly disheartening. We ended up going to Cracker Barrel, which was so much more pleasant in service.
