Best hidden gem for for real German food for a few thousand miles. All cooked by the owner and chef Klaus Fritz. Closed for good thanks to a worthless landlord. Such a shame!

-CLOSED- We moved away from the area and have missed this wonderful host and great food. We just passed by and noticed all the signage is gone. So sad to see this Rowlett institution has closed.

Best cakes and bakery items in town. Everything is handmade fresh daily.

My husband and I come here for our wedding anniversary every year now for 13 years . Favorite German restaurant food and desserts . The owner is truly compassionate about his food and loves his customers

This is one of the few authentic German restaurants in the United States. The schnitzel was wonderful and the desserts are amazing. It’s unfortunate he is closing his doors soon. Oh don’t forget to pick up a bottle of Glühwein it’s delicious!

The food is really out of this world. His pastries are incredible, you won't find anything like what he can make outside of Europe. Eating here is an amazing experience too because the owner takes your order and then cooks it for you himself! He's such a talented and entertaining person, you'll never have another dining experience like Fritzls. ❤

I am so sad to find this German restaurant is going to close down in three months due to lease contract. In my opinion, it is so much better than Henk's on Northwest Highway. The owner, Mr. Klaus, is very friendly and attentive to all customers. He treats all customers walk in his restaurant with a big smile and asking about their days and how he could serve them. My friend and I don't drink, but I bet the German beers at this restaurant are good. The food we ordered was delicious. My friend had the Hungarian gulasch and I had the schnitzel. The jaeger sauce (cognac mushroom garlic sauce) on the schnitzel was the bomb. I couldn't resist and ordered a piece of fresh baked sweet plum strudel. It was the best strudel I ever had. I will definitely come back for more before this restaurant closed for good. You should make your way out to Rowlett to try some. I promise you will not regret it.

Quality over quantity. That sums up this place. Doors open at 5pm and please be prompt. We walked in at 5:25 and literally he locked the doors behind us b/c he said he was out of food. "Two servings of schnitzel and one serving of spätzle left." There were 3 of us. So one ordered the bratwurst platter. I said "surprise me". We got the remaining 2 schnitzels, served smothered with the richest, creamiest gravy & fresh mushrooms. I got roasted potatoes (instead of spätzle) and they were flavorful and crispy. The sauerkraut was tender and tangy, just like I make at home with apples to cut the bitter of the vinegar and caraway seeds for depth. idk if it was veal or pork but every bite was delicious. I tried the sausage as well and it was fine textured and complex in seasoning. A delight! A few beers and 3 desserts to go - the bill could give you sticker shock for a mid-week dinner - with tax and tip $160 for 3 of us. Well the beers and desserts were $7 each, the food around $25/ea. It was worth it for an occasional treat, for authentic Austrian / German food can't beat it. The owner, Klaus runs this tiny gem as a "One Man Show". He cooks all day, opens at 5pm. Klaus greets and seats guests, takes the order, delivers the food, clears the plates, processes your payment. We left before 6pm bellies full, laughing, and carrying our desserts home. So bottom line, don't be late or you might not get a plate. Sorry, no photos this time, but other photos posted here are accurate representation of what food we were served.

I have never seen a more homey place with the touch of international friendship. One man hand makes all the food, served, cleans, spends hours making specialty desserts that 5 star restaurants would gladly serve. The service is so quick and friendly. It’s amazing one man does the work of 5 people and it’s still speedy and served with a smile. Due to issues out of his control his business will be closing permanently in December. Even waiting in rush hour traffic the food and service make it worth your while.

Wunderbar!! Authentic, hands down the best German food outside of Europe in all my travels! Nice ambiance, great selection of beers and desserts. Service is excellent. The owner does it all. This place is a gem.

Fantastic German bar owned by an even more amazing German! I don’t know how this man manages to run the place all on his own, but he did a masterful job. I had the paprika schnitzel which was wonderful, and a house-made brownie which was just as incredible. A great atmosphere combined with great food and beer (and homemade pastries), topped off with a wonderful and charming host makes this a place I can’t wait to get back to. I haven’t had a night this enjoyable since my last trip to Bavaria!
