My wife and I stopped for lunch on our way ( just a little out of the way) from Guadalupe to Big Bend National Parks.
I had stopped there with my daughter 4 years ago (to the day). We had really enjoyed it and I wanted my wife to experience the cafe, too. So, repeat customer from Knoxville, TN.
My wife had the country fried steak and mashed potatoes covered in sausage gravy with green beans as a side. She said it was great.
I had the half pound steak burger with fries. The burger had a pepper jelly sauce on it which was very tasty.
Good service and atmosphere.
I would highly recommend a stop at the cafe.

Their chicken fried steak is a hidden gem. It and the mashed potatoes are topped with a generous portion of sausage gravy which includes tons of huge pieces of sausage. Hands down best ever!

The best chicken stripe. I grabbed some before making my way to El Paso and they were so good.

Excellent burgers and kid's menu. Surprising to find such a gem on an otherwise barren stretch of road (where are the gas stations in Texas?!). Friendly, prompt service.

šŸ’„šŸ’„Racism unrespectfull ….showed up and they told us they couldn’t attend us because they didn’t serve tortillas and chille and no tables available when all tables available šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø
Grandpa handicap had to get back in the vehicle not understanding the situation as was his favorite place to stop and dine in past years…..
Guys on motorcycles showed up and got attended and sat at available tables as we were exiting theļæ¼ building… šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø happened like month ago

We stopped for much-needed food break on the road between Carlsbad and Las Cruces, great service and excellent burgers and fries. The cheese steak was excellent!

First time here. Great food and friendly people. You can get key chains and next door there is a gift shop.

Glad this little place was open in the middle of nowhere. The food was very good! We had the burger, onion rings, patty melt, & fries. Would definitely recommend trying this place out!

Excellent service. The type of service that used to be the norm. Friendly.
And the food was excellent. 😊
So good I had almost finished before realizing I wanted to take a picture to remember my travels.

After being seated and waiting for about 20 minutes, I was going to order my usual: cheeseburger and onion rings. Instead, I was handed a Wednesday/Thursday menu. This menu has very limited number of prepared sandwiches or a hotdog. Very disappointing!!! Again, after waiting another 15 minutes to place my order, I left. When I first entered, I saw others waiting to be served their meal, and when I left, they were still waiting for their meals. Therefore, I thought, since I had not had the chance to place my order, after 45 minute, it would take another 45 minutes to an hour to be served my meal. So, if you have a lot of time to kill, like taking a hike or watching a movie on your phone, on a Wednesday or Thursday, avoid having lunch at the Cornudas Cafe. Again, a very disappointing experience!!!

the brisket and ribs are great and the penny beer is good. just not enough hotel rooms to rest before the long drive home

They were short staffed at the time and thus only a limited menu to choose from, but they did an amazing job with what they had.
