We‘ve been to Kat‘s BBQ at the end of our Roadtrip from Miami to Houston in October and what shall we say…it was a great experience with some insane good food, some nice service and we enjoyed the visit a lot. The perfect end for our time in the US and we hope to get back one day.
*Edit: by the way we are the first and only Germans to have these special homemade sauces! You have to try them, they’re awesome 💪🏼

Well this little gem just made it onto my top 5 Texas BBQ joints. On the staff, super friendly to where the order taker knew the names of about half the customers by heart because they were regulars. I got the brisket, sausage, BBQ beans, and Mac n cheese. The brisket was a solid 9.5/10. The crust had a good layer of seasoning on it, coarse salt and pepper. The smoke flavor was rich and deep in the fat vein. It was very moist with a good texture. The sausage was an 8/10. Great flavor, a light spiciness that was not overpowering, not overly greasy. And the grind on the sausage was just right, not too fine and not too coarse. The mac and cheese was good, I would add a tad more salt, but it was very creamy, 7/10. The beans had the BBQ meat in them, which gave a good saltiness to compliment the sweetness of the beans, 8/10. Overall very impressed. I will have to return and try some of the other meats.

While I always recommend Kat’s Bbq to everyone I will say I hope the new owners start recognizing the flavor of the brisket is not what it was. It’s still super good but I worry it’s gonna keep slipping. Love that new things are being added. I’ve really enjoyed the pork belly burnt ends. The guy that works the counter though needs to stop trying to be like Andy. He’s coming off very rude at times. I had to stop my husband from us walking out because he asked what happened to the root beer and the guy was pretty crappy about it. A simple we had to get rid of it because it just wasn’t working out for us would’ve been fine but instead we got an attitude.
