This was our 2nd time visting from Houston, Texas. Took day off to pick up pies for Christmas Gathering and for my sons job for his co-workers. As always, the pies were great. Just delicious.

One the best little places on God's green earth. Great homemade pastries and sausage-in-a-blanket. Love the cinnamon rolls and homade pies. They serve breakfast and lunch meals, (the fried catfish is light and crispy, yum). A shining star in hometown Schulenburg. I'm proud we have places like this in Texas.⭐️🇨🇱

Local favorite — but left me underwhelmed.
What stood out more than the food (which I found average) was the lack of customer service.
Staff never offered to warm up our kolaches or pigs in a blanket, and any questions we asked seemed to be met with indifference — or simply no answers. It genuinely felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there.
We weren’t provided a plastic bag for our multiple items, and asking for napkins felt like we were requesting their last few. Basic customer service gestures were noticeably absent.
As for the food, I personally prefer the kolaches and pigs in a blanket from West — both in flavor and overall experience.
While the blueberry and cream cheese kolaches had filling throughout, the prune kolache had only a small smear on top, which ended up stuck to the bag because of how it was packed. I had to scrape it off just to taste it.
To add to the challenge, construction nearby makes parking difficult, with only four available spaces.
They do offer a drive-through, which is a plus, but overall, the visit didn’t live up to the local hype.

Love the pigs and kolaches from Kountry Bakery. We make plans to take special trips there since we no longer live close enough to travel there regularly. This last time, however, they did not get us the 7 pepper jack pigs we ordered, and instead gave us ham and cheese. To be fair, we had $90 worth of pigs this time - things can easily get mixed up. And they all got eaten. Will go back again, no doubt!!!
