We stopped here while on vacation and it was the best food ever!! Definitely recommend! Very comfortable and friendly and all the food was absolutely delicious!!!
We had the best time on our date night! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The prime rib was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and juicy. For sides, we shared smashed potatoes (SO good!), crispy Brussels sprouts, onion rings, and fried okra—each one was better than the last. Everything was seasoned perfectly and served hot. Rude waitress and had to ask for menus and still had to wait only to be told everything was out except hamburger and fries.

Based on the reviews, The Metropole Saloon and Restaurant is a hidden gem in the heart of Shamrock, Texas. The atmosphere is superb and very welcoming, with a beautiful whiskey lounge and a modern log cabin feel. It was bustling with friendly customers and regulars, and everyone felt welcome. The service was top notch and the food was excellent. Specific meals mentioned include the chopped steak with loaded smashed potatoes, the rib eye cooked medium rare, and the Filet and “smashed” potatoes, all of which were perfectly spot on. The apple cobbler was a complimentary dessert that was very good. The restaurant has an old black and white western on a tv and an eclectic blend of chairs around every table, giving it a good old fashion saloon feel. The bill for one meal came to about $35, plus a $10 tip, for great service and great food. It is a great steakhouse in a tiny town that does not disappoint.
