We had reservations for a large party, but when we arrived, the restaurant already felt like it was shutting down—as if everyone was ready to go home. Not a great way to start the New Year.
The gumbo arrived cold, and we had to ask for all three orders to be reheated. Who wants to eat cold gumbo? To make matters worse, my entrée—red beans and rice with sausage—was also cold, and the sausage was clearly undercooked. It had a charred exterior for presentation, but inside it was not fully cooked. The beans, rice, and sausage were all cold, and I eventually had to throw the dish away.
The flavors were mediocre at best, if not outright bad, and definitely not what you would expect from an establishment like Babin’s. We’ve had much better food and service at the Katy location, but this location was hands down horrible. The service was below average, and even after the staff was made aware of the issues, nothing improved.
To top it off, the salad—which comes with the meal—was the only thing served warm. Who serves a warm salad?
Unfortunately, this experience ensured that we will never return to or recommend this Babin’s location. Being on vacation, this ended up being the worst part of our trip. New Year guys do better

We've been to Babins 3 times and have never been disappointed. The food is always good. I'd like to especially give a shout out to our waitress Bri, who was exceptionally friendly and made our dining experience even better!

My husband and I came here after getting a gift card for Christmas. We enjoyed calamari, seafood pasta, salmon and cheesecake. We will definitely be back! All the meals were well priced.

I was once attacked by an alligator in the vicinity of this restaurant. I was 21, a girl and I were getting frisky after the bar and there was an alligator close by. No one was hurt or nothing, and really these things happen in Houston, it is a swamp after all. Anyway back to Babins, as expected, I had the fried gator tonight and it was delicious. My heart tells me it was the same gator.

Edit: I’ve been coming here off and on for years, and unfortunately the food quality has gotten worse each time. What once felt like a budget-friendly alternative to Pappadeaux’s now feels closer to a more expensive Long John Silver’s.

Babin's Seafood has become a regular haunt with friends and family. My go to faves are the crispy fried catfish filets, bacon wrapped shrimp and the Crescent City Swirl cocktail. Definitely worth the visit every time.

We love visiting Babin’s when we’re in town. Vanessa is the sweetest & most attentive server; it’s always a joy to see & talk with her❣️😊We’ve tried various menu options over the years & this visit we tried the pasta dishes which were-just ok. Our favorites by far are the Shrimp Kisses, the Pontchartrain, Cajun stuffed shrimp, Creole green beans & blackened shrimp. The bread pudding is a delicious treat too—enough for at least 3 people to share. Can’t wait to visit the area, Babin’s & Vanessa again!

I brought eight people the snapper Pontchartrain was absolutely horrible The snapper was so tough and dry and they put a little bit of sauce on there The appetizers were good but weeds are all the time and I know the rush hit it once but the sauce was terrible and the snapper was the worst I've ever eat in general their food is always good I'm sure it was just because of the Christmas rush you know

Food allergies beware! The place has great food but no details about what’s in the food. The waiters are also unclear if food is safe. Our child needed a high chair they put a high chair down then told us it was against policy and safety to have a high chair with a booth. When worried about the rice for food allergy reasons - the manager didn’t apologize but told us “anytime seafood is served it’s our responsibility to ask if red meat is in it”. Although only seafood was ordered. They remade dish but made us feel it was our fault we had no idea here in Houston rice had meat in it. With that being said everyone was nice but no one was genuinely apologetic for the food allergy mistake. We learned our lesson. Get manager asap - to speak about menu.
