Im a conniseur and cook of german food. This is the best restaurant I have eaten at this side of the Atlantic. The family atmosphere is amazing. The taste of the food is worth the drive and the wait. This is a small restaurant with about 7 tables. Some tables are seated committee style. They do take reservations. The reward of patience is worth it. Dont miss dessert. We will go again soon!!!

Absolutely phenomenal and as authentic as the Swabian serving us and the Hessian that sat with us. Great, classic Jagerschnitzel but loved the uniqueness of the Smileyschnitzel. The Zigwunerschnitzel looked great too. Obviously came for the schnitzel but surprised to see Maultaschen on the menu (first time every anywhere in Texas), so that was ordered to go along with the Bee sting and Schwarzwalder cakes. Spittle, Kartoffelknödel, Schupfnudeln, green beans and potatoe salad all hit on all cylinders. Friendly staff worked their arsches off with such a crowd. I'm guessing I'm the only one that wasn't privy to their newfound stardom but arriving at noon, we were still seated in a time frame many wait for mundane places in Houston plus had covered parking. Food served quickly and atmosphere is irreplaceable. Grabbed a couple of pretzels on the way out as well. Quintessential Texan experience.

Very nice visit. Arrived early for my reservation. Ended up waiting for the reservation time. The place was packed with customers standing around outside. I would estimate without a reservation, you probably have at least half an hour wait. That being said, our table was oversized, and the seating was generous. On Saturday afternoon, after 1400, most of the selections were gone, and the dessert was empty. We powered through, taking a selection of the available food, and it was all generous portions and excellent in taste. I rate it quite authentic, served on China with real silverware. Plus for the small things that add up. Highly recommend. Things to think about before the drive: make a reservation. Earlier is better than later because they only prepare so much of each entree. We parked in the street out front. If you arrive early, ask for the dessert you want to take when checking in. It saves you from being disappointed later.

Delicious authentic food and served in large portions. Loved the atmosphere as you share the table with others, as is traditional at a German gasthaus.
Seems like most who were there yesterday found them through the video that featured this restaurant, the staff highly recommends making reservations, especially if making a far drive.
I will be back!!

people that are leaving terrible reviews coming here once after watching an influencer video really needs to look at the overall picture. This is a small family run business and you’re going to diminish a long standing family run business because you can’t do research. Shame on y’all.

Not worth the price. 3 hours just to get food. Paltry portions compared to everyone's pictures. Dish was tasty but since they were running low on menu items my plate literally looked like they gave the other half of my plate to another patron who ordered the same thing. Go early, have reservations and may luck be on your side that they haven't run out of half the menu.

An absolute gem in every sense! Phenomenal scratch cooking that is authentic as can be. We were in on a Friday night and got to chatting with the owners who are so friendly and genuine. Tru the smiley schnitzel and the currywurst! Get a sampling of all of the side dishes too because they are the best you'll ever have! Can't wait to make the trip back from Houston.

The food was delicious, amazing, and authentic! Everyone is super welcoming and friendly. Definitely plan on visiting again! A reservation is greatly encouraged as they are a small business with limited seating.

This little hidden gem is on point! I spent 4 years in Germany as a soldier and stayed there for another 1 1/2 years as a civilian and can tell you with the utmost confidence that this food is authentic. It is worth the time and effort to make the trip to this hidden, not so secret little slice of heaven. I would advise calling ahead to make a reservation though. Bis später!
