Worth the Drive! Authentic German Food and Incredible Hospitality
My mother and I drove all the way from Killeen to Smiley just to experience the authentic German food at Oma's Schnitzel Ranch, and hands-down, it was worth every mile! The moment we walked in, the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming.
We visited for my mom's birthday, and the staff truly went above and beyond to make her day special. When we arrived at our table, they had already placed a balloon there—a thoughtful detail we absolutely didn't ask for! After dinner, they surprised her with a delicious piece of cake and a candle.
The food itself was the real deal; it tasted like genuine, hearty German cooking. The incredible hospitality and amazing service, combined with the top-notch food, made this birthday celebration unforgettable. If you're looking for an authentic meal and a place that treats its guests like family, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!

If you are German and miss real German food, ever had real German food or wanna expierience real German food, this is the place to go. We enjoyed every bite of our meal and also enjoyed the black forest cake, bread and blueberry streusel we took home. Everything tastes like home (Germany). WOW! Great food!!! Desserts, breads, and entrees. I had the goulash There was spaetzle, red cabbage, and the beloved dumplings !!!! There was schnitzel, and little sausages from Germany Ample amounts. They use China. Very nice plate. It’s just a little dive in smiley Tx with delicious food by some retired folks who bake and make dinners. Make a reservation for a Saturday. You will be glad you did !!!

Stopped by for lunch and tried a variety of dishes. The pork medallions were bursting with flavor and the green beans were perfectly tender and seasoned. I also tried the German Goulash and the beef practically melted in my mouth. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Great hidden gem! The food was amazing. This is a family business, and everyone has come together to create this small, quaint restaurant with true authentic German food and desserts! I was able to spend a little time with the owners, and they are remarkable people, doing a remarkable thing in this very small town. Our family traveled in from New Braunfels, and it was well worth the drive. Thank you Oma's for making Father's Day so great!
