We were hoping for some tasty crab legs!! The first batch we received were over cooked & hard to get into. Hubby decided to try something else. I saw them bring out a fresh batch of crab legs & those were better. At least I was able to enjoy some crab for the $100 we spent on dinner for 2. The wait staff appeared to be severely over worked. The wait staff appearing not to have a problem taking a break & gathering in a group with a busy restaurant. Do better.

Absolutely horrible service. Rude server and hostess. One bright spot was a single waitress upstairs who tried to help our family but by the time she came around we had already decided to leave.

We had the buffet there. Food was ok. The crab legs were hit or miss. They were broiled and some were very dry and some were decent.

I have been coming to South Padre Island since I was little kid. Louis Backyard has always been a staple down here for many years, but after last night that has changed. I have never tasted food that disgusting in my life and for $35 a person for the buffet it was not worth it. I wouldn’t pay $1 to taste that food again. I am so disappointed and will never return. Fix your food or you won’t have a restaurant left before you know it. This place was shit do not go here.

I’m giving 1 star solely for our waiter’s customer service — otherwise it would have been 0 if that were an option. We should’ve taken it as a sign when we walked in and only a few tables were occupied. Unfortunately, the food was not fresh and lacked flavor, and the drinks were just okay. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing, but overall the experience was disappointing. Not worth it in our opinion, as there are much better options out there.

Shrimp was gritty (fresh and not purged)

Crab legs were ok. But beware of the all you can eat buffet. They charge a ridiculously amount of gratuity on top of the 35 dollar fee. Staff was all over the place, forgot things and took the wrong order but followed up with a complimentary piece of cake that normally costs 8 bucks. I’ll find another place next time!

Hands down the best tuna steak and garlic potatoes we've ever had and I'm from Nola didn't expect this place to rival what I've experienced before! Also, Michael on the guitar serenaded us the whole time just as the chocolate cake from heaven arrived(highly recommend!).

I wouldn't pay 10$ for this buffet, everything is cold, buffet is very limited. Not much selections. People rave over the mediocre cran legs, tiny and dry . 20 years ago it was good. Now its 3 out of 10. If you want a good hot meal , look for an a la carte restaurant,. .

We waited 25 mins for our waitress to come get our drink order. They were not busy at all when we came. She didn't ever tell us about the buffet and we found out after we ordered they had a seafood/steak buffet. It took over 25 mins to get our food and it was luke warm. The band that was playing was great! But the service was terrible.
Prices are expensive.

Louie’s Backyard offers a great dining experience with delicious food and strong, flavorful cocktails. The outdoor seating provides a stunning view of the water and South Padre Island’s beautiful scenery. While they don’t serve crab legs or garlic potatoes before buffet hours, the rest of the menu did not disappoint. We visited as a large group, and although one meal took so long to arrive that most of us had already finished eating, the staff remained friendly. An unexpected bit of entertainment came when a bold bird swooped down and stole a fry right off a plate! Overall, we truly enjoyed the relaxed, waterfront atmosphere and would visit again for the views alone.

Went for the free fireworks and we had been before and it was great. This time food was awful we ordered off menu and didn’t get the buffet and they were out of so much stuff. Friend got red snapper and said awful. So 84.00 for a fireworks show Lol

Waited at the empty bar for over 15 minutes while the woman bartender served multiple other customers around us but never acknowledged us. We spoke to the nearby manager, who told us that “if we don’t tip well enough, the bartender won’t remember us.”
Regardless of tipping, people deserve basic acknowledgment and service, and that did not happen here. This interaction with the “manager” left us feeling icky, I hope management addresses this so that future guests are treated with respect and fairness.
