The food here is a great value and the family gives great service in this converted home to a restaurant. Considering their prices and how the food taste, I believe this is a great neighborhood Tex-Mex restaurant.
I was very surprised to find this place! I was immediately impressed by the cozy, warm ambience. The service was fantastic and the food was as good or better than any of the big franchise places that you’ll find in The Woodlands.

Why is this restaurant not always packed with a line out the door? We love El Portal and eat here weekly. The staff are super nice and do a great job. The food is awesome no matter what we all order. Its such a smal, quiet, nice place to have a meal where you can actually hear each other talk and have a nice conversation. It's one of our favorite restaurants for sure.
