Edited to add: Had to revise my review. My last visit was flat out bad. Stopped for lunch, oysters were inedible, fish was over-fried, waitress was apologetic but charged us full price. Least enjoyable $50 I’ve ever spent.
After driving by several times saying ‘we should try La Palapa’ last night we finally did. What a treat! We ordered two of the (not on menu) crab leg specials for three of us and we all left stuffed with well seasoned, yummy crab. Their house margarita was awesome too, I liked the orange liqueur they add to offset some of the acidity. Go to there!
Parking: Ample parking around the perimeter of the building.
Kid-friendliness: Nice menu with kids staples like chicken tenders.

The staff always treats us great... The good could be better but it's well worth the value... They have a fried fish basket that they grill for me without breading instead of deep fry...

With my first glance at the menu at La Palapa I knew there were so many things I wanted to try. This isn't a Tex-Mex restaurant by any means...the menu feels Latin-Cajun fusion...more on that in a bit. Tons of seafood and Mexican options, today I decided to keep it fully Mexican.
Started with their house Marg and a Piña Colada...both were scratch made and tasty. Their chips and salsa showed up with both a very good red salsa and a surprisingly delicious creamy jalapeno. The queso with fajita was good but we felt was a bit of a miss as it was thin and not well combined athough it still tasted good.
The fajitas though...one order of the lime chicken and one combination molcajete which had steak, chicken, andouille sausage, shrimp and fried cheese were phenomenal! Both came with sides of either refried or charro beans, (the charros were amazing), fresh guacamole and pico AND (remember I said fusion)...the best dirty rice! All proteins were delicious with the beef being super tender, the chicken very well seasoned and the shrimp with just the right amount of spice.
I can't wait to return to head down the seafood path with La Palapa...gumbo, oysters fresh and baked and so many fish, shrimp and crab options!
This is a gem!

We ate at La Palapa for the first time last night and loved it!
Great service, fun atmosphere and delicious food. We topped off the night with bread pudding and it was to die for! My husband and I shared it, which was perfect. We'll definitely be back again soon.
They also have a great lunch menu under $12 and half price dishes each day of the week. I can't wait to try more things on their menu!

We had been meaning to try La Palapa, drawn in by its charming exterior. And it was a nice surprise, the decor inside is also fun, and it's the kind of place that you can sense people enjoy working there.
Felipe was our server and he was attentive and discussed the options of the menu, which made it easier to select our meal.
Despite it being a rainy afternoon with few patrons, the ambiance remained festive and warm. The restaurant was impeccably clean, enhancing the overall welcoming atmosphere.
We started with chips and salsa, which wasn't spicy but was full of flavor. Next, we enjoyed the quesadilla, accompanied by a cup of their delicious charro beans. Additionally, we ordered a plate that included fried fish fillets, stuffed crab, onion rings, charro beans, and hush puppies. The stuffed crab was my favorite—succulent and perfectly seasoned. I want more! And we took some shrimp empanadas home which were absolutely delicious.
We ended our meal with the Tres Leches topped with chocolate sprinkles, which was a delightful and sweet finale to our dining experience. It was big enough to share.
The drinks were another highlight. They are served in such attractive glasses, they added an extra touch of originality to our meal, and made me smile. We tried the day's special cocktail with rum, and it was both tasty and fresh, making it even more enjoyable.
They also have a space for large parties or private events. It looks perfect to have a nice time in a group.
Give it a try!

Excellent daily specials! Items normally priced at $16.99 are less than $9, which is a steal. Highly recommend the stuffed shrimp. Also tried the spicy seafood soup, which was a letdown. (Broth too watery, soup consisted of only shrimp, crawfish, and bell peppers. For $15, I expected more.) Good service. Ate in once, ordered curbside once. Found that there is no curbside parking spot and had to go in to get my food, so don't order curbside. They don't seem to have it, although they offer it online. Will likely be back, but will stick to the daily specials.

Seafood platter cost 55.00 wasn't hot when came out. No flavor. Shrimp was overcooked. 🦀 had no flavor. But mexican place does not know how to cook seafood. Hopefully, they find someone knows how to cook seafood soon.
