Quaint, family friendly, and worth the drive! Go hungry. Mary's Cafe is an amazing place for chicken fried steak. I know they sell other food, but we go for the CFS! Explore downtown Straun when you are done.

The 3 mile detour off the Interstate is so well worth it. Just serving a huge Chicken Fried Steak is not enough, this one is always tender and with the gravy on the side, it is served the way a CFS should be, not hidden under the gravy.

Prices seemed high until I saw the amount of food that was on every plate. Definitely could share a plate, they charge $2.00 to share. Well worth it!! Chip picture is after we ate half the basket

Ordering ahead—- you need to know that, because they stay SO busy. Burgers take minimum of 30 mins for preparation so, look at the menu, call it in- and you will love Mary’s.
Perfect as always!!!
Not my favorite style on chicken fried steak, but fried gizzrds were great
Amazing. Lived up to all of our expectations. Mary was a great hostess and the chicken fried steak was on point. I brought my high school aged son here on the way back from Abilene. He wanted to go to a quick service chain restaurant so we could get back home. We came in it was crowded but right away Mary was concerned about us getting accommodated. She took our order and got them started on our food. She asked if it was ok if we were seated at the “community table” up front with one of the locals. Joe. Of course. Joe was fantastic. Look, this is the kind of place we are losing in the U.S. Where we talk to one another. The food came out and was amazing. We both got chicken fried steak. It it not your typical, greasy over battered chicken fried steak that makes you sick. It is the old school pan or griddle fried type that only the real ones can appreciate. And the gravy was the perfect real (not packaged) gravy. This is a genuine place. If you are bougie and going here looking for a foodie experience don’t go. I grew up in a small town and this place was a dream for me.
Good down home food
